Re: Acne

Hi,i  have been been researching Jojoba oil as a natural sunscreen but it seems its good for acne too which reminded me of this thread. It appears to unblock sebum from skin pores and eliminates blackheads/whiteheads and is an anti inflamatory and wont aggravate the acne. seems to be a superb moisturizer too as it penetrates many skin layers.

Its not like we are fractions of the whole but rather versions of the whole.

Re: Acne

Thanks!

Did you make any progress in your research?

I am looking for an anti-acne and anti-sunburn oil right now as a coincidence of reading your post.

I'd considered coconut oil and grapeseed for their anti-oxidant properties, but i'm very early into investigation, all i know is that i hate chemicals, it's hard to avoid ingestion as their in everything, but if nothing else i'm going to keep them off of my skin.

Does this stuff really protect from the sun, moisturise and  unblock skin pores, that would be the perfect oil, please can you or anyone who knows about this stuff share what they know?

Thankyou,

Miles.

Re: Acne

Anyone know of any oils that protect from the sun or are good for the skin?

This stuff seems to be good for the skin, it is used by russian cosmmonauts to protect against ratiation burns, also used in treatment of burns and radiation burns in hospitals.

I've also read that Jojoba is used to treat burns, is a very effective moisturiser and can be very effective anti-acne treatment.

Anyone know of any other natural products which are good at healing the skin, people have told me that i look about 20-21, but i don't take that positively, i don't like my complexion unless i have a tan and this is hard to acomplish in current british weather, i also have sensitive skin, people have also commented i look ill, i put this down to the Ritalin mostly as when i was a child i had a great complexion until i became addicted and depressed to the drugs.

So now i'm looking for a way to gain back a better looking outward appearance and detoxify myself of the negative effects the stimulants have had on me mentally, physically and spiritually.

Anyone suggest something better than the two moisturising oils i've named for potensial use?

Thanks,

Miles.

Re: Acne

Try Kukui nut oil from Hawaii!  http://hawaiianbathbody.com/page/HBB/CTGY/kukui

Re: Acne

Some others are emu oil, coconut oil, and olive oil.  What's best is what works for you.  If the olive oil works, it has the benefit that it is ridiculously inexpensive.

I brightened my complexion quite a bit using hydroxy acids.  You may want to research it a little, as it may be better for some skin types than others.  In particular, I understand it can cause uneven coloration on darker complexions.  It was great with my olive skin.  I like Reviva brand 5% glycolic acid (found at health food stores in U.S. anyway).

Also, the skin surface oils need to be on the acid side.  Cleansers are typically alkaline, dissolving oils and literally destroying the top layers of skin.  If you must cleanse, you might try something acidic like Burt's Bees garden tomato facial cleansing bar.  This might sound crazy, but I don't use cleanser on my face.  I slick it up with castor oil, leave it on 20 minutes, and remove with a warm washcloth.  It works great.  You know how no matter how much you wash your face, if you put a cotton ball with astringent to it it never comes away totally clean?  After the castor oil, the cotton ball is absolutely clean (I did this as a test -- please, please don't put astringent on your face!)

I used to use alcohol wipes before i was a bit more clued up and your right about atringents and cleansers, you can wipe for ages there will always be more.

I'll give what you say a go with castor oil or a similar oil.

Thanks again,

Miles.

Re: Acne

Another thing -- if the oil gets gunky in the sink, you can wipe off the excess with a warm damp paper towel and throw it away, and then do the warm washcloth.  I find I have to do the washcloth too -- the paper towel isn't sufficient.

Also, shea butter is said to have sunscreen properties.  I haven't been able to find the exact SPF, but I believe it is low, like 4-8.
