Topic: Acne

I have a bit of an acne problem. It seems that washing my face twice a day with Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash and once a day with Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Scrub, switching my pillow case often, and using Neutrogena Healthy Skin face lotion after each time I wash my face is not enough. I figure exercising more than I currently am, (like once a week,) will be a huge help. Anyone have any suggestions?

BTW, I almost never touch my face throughout the day.

Re: Acne

Tons of raw fresh fruit and veg, especially citrus fruits like grapefruit and lemons, avoid clogging mucus forming foods such as wheat and dairy, look at your bowel function and consider a cleanse . cayenne pepper, apple cider vinegar and blackstrap molasses 3 times daily are a great all rounders.
Try rubbing lemon juice on your face before going to bed and dont wash it of.
Cayenne pepper is the king of alkalising spices and a good blood cleanser along with the ACV.

Just a few thoughts.

You could also try washing your face in fresh urine which gets some interesting responses smile

Re: Acne

I don't eat enough fresh fruit and veg. I have stomach aches sometimes, though not as often or as bad as I used to. I digest food pretty well though I think. I'll try that bowel cleansing stuff. I guess I could piss on my face in the shower... lol. I've actually done that before. I heard it worked well from someone that knew someone that did that. I also think I may have acne because I'm holding onto something. I carry a poker face almost all the time. I'll try feeling out my face with my awareness I guess. Fresh fruit and raw vegetables actually sound appetizing. It shall be done.

Re: Acne

Years ago I discovered that skin eruptions were the result of an unbalanced PH within the mouth.  Acidic conditions within the mouth allow bacteria and yeasts to grow, be absorbed into the flesh and erupt on the skin.

Many things distroy the balance by producing acidic conditions where alkaline should be.

Try rinsing your mouth after everything you eat and drink.  Also stop using flouride toothpaste (I've never known of anyone with acne that used Real Salt instead of toothpaste and rinsed their mouth after putting food or beverage in it).  These steps will change your PH balance and your skin will completely clear up. You must give it a couple of months as there will still be bacteria inside your flesh that is in the process of becoming pimples.

Re: Acne

Sometimes you just have too much dairy in your diet. Lay off the dairy and your face might clear up.

Re: Acne

If Neutrogena isn't helping I would try a different brand.  I know a lot of people swear by it but I've never been all that impressed with it.  I personally avoid using anything that says it is specifically for treating acne because it's too harsh on my skin.  You could have a chemical sensitivity or allergy that is causing breakouts or making it worse.  It's also possible to have a rebound effect from using too many products, cleansing too much, and over-stressing and irritating your skin so it never has a chance to heal itself or even out on its own.  You might also want to try switching to a new laundry detergent to see if that makes any difference.

What type of skin do you have?  I have very pale, sensitive skin that tends to be oily, but dries out badly if I cleanse it too much.  So I don't use a facial cleanser at all.  I use an exfoliating scrub on my face twice a day.  It doesn't have to be a facial scrub, body scrubs work just as well or better.  If I don't use the scrub, after a week or so I start getting pimples.  I never use makeup, masks, astringents, or anything else except maybe a moisturizer, and I only use that in cooler weather.  The less stuff I put on my face, the better it looks and feels.

I get a lot of compliments on my complexion, and I have really atrocious eating habits.  So I don't know if diet is really the biggest factor for everyone.  But it could be if you have an allergy or intolerance for something you are eating.  I think for every person there are certain things in nature that are good for you, and others that don't work with your chemical makeup.  You just have to experiement and find the right ingredients.

Re: Acne

I don't eat dairy very often. I haven't used fluoride toothpaste for over a year. I always wash my mouth with water after everything I eat and drink (except water, would be a little redundant.) I'll try switching to a different cleanser. I think the main reason why I have an acne problem is because I have been shutting off energy from entering my face. I used to have very low self esteem and not much confidence. To solve this I would meditate super strongly on my gut area for hours at a time everyday. This built up my confidence and concentration greatly, but I wasn't keeping balance in the other parts of my body. I shut off my face basically and shut out emotion. I think the acne is a result of this and of not eating enough raw fruits and vegetables. I have a natural craving for these foods right now and so there must be a reason for it. Steak, chicken, and meat in general doesn't appeal me much at all. A nice bowl of fresh crispy fruit salad and maybe even some carrots sounds good to me.

Re: Acne

Internally, things like yeast can cause eruptions.  Candidae can result from eating sugar, but that would probably take quite a bit of sugar since you are young.  Have you looked into gluten intolerance?  They hide gluten in everything, and I mean everything.  Bread products, especially, but really tons of other products.  Many, many people are sensitive to it to the point that the intolerance has a name.  Not sure of the spelling, but it sounds like Celiac disease. I don't really feel it is a disease, more a natural allergic reaction to something that is not edible but is included in everything.  Just as I am "allergic" to flouride.  They say it as though not being able to tolerate something that is akin to neuclear waste is an "allergy". Right.

Something you are eating or drinking is causing the skin eruptions.  Something is breaking down the mucus barrier in your mouth and permitting the absorbtion of acid which your body recognizes as a naughty invader and reacts by triggering your immune system to fight back.  It's just the same as having splinter or other irritant in your body... the immune system surrounds the splinter with pus in an effort to isolate and eject the invader from your flesh.

Maybe you could add Real Salt or a good sea salt to the water you rinse your mouth with because there is flouride, chloride, chlorine and a host of other cemicals added to water.  Even the bottled water has only been run through a filter so it still has the chemicals which makes the PH acidic.  Try adding the salt to neutralize the acid.  Also, try brushing your teeth with one of the salts found at a health food store.  I just like the Real Salt because it is so fine, it has no additives and doesn't irritate my gums, but you can really use any direct salt. The Real Salt clumps because it has no declumping chemicals (it clumps and settles and you need to tap it prior to using it to break it up) and it is tan colored because it is not bleached, and so on.

Guaranteed, your body is telling you it can't tolerate something you are putting in it.

Re: Acne

Benzoyl peroxide 10% works pretty good. That's the active ingredient in most popular products like clearasil, etc.  If you can get your hands on some phisohex (now prescription only), that is great to use as a cleanser.  I had bad acne as a teen, had to sneak up on the mirror to shave in the morning.

Re: Acne

Using topicals is fine for addressing the condition after it manifests, but preventing the eruptions on the subtle or pre-manifestion level is the only way to truly correct the issue.  It's about identifying the culprit prior to it entering your body.  Of course, pre-manifest influences take a route into us by attaching to our thoughts, the food we choose (by directing us to choose toxic  choices) and all choices in general.  These influences enter on a thought level (or really, pre-thought level), then action, and finally the physical as a negative. You are very intune to recognize your influences.

Re: Acne

I found this site which explains Celiac Disease (intolerance is a more appropriate word than disease).  I am extremely intolerant of gluten; if I eat a gluten product, my skin erupts.  Gluten creates yeast infections (explained better on the attached site).  Although it doesn't name acne as a symptom, it is.  It also causes depression and other emotional difficulties as yeast are LIVING, CONSIOUS, ANTI-BIOTIC (anti-life) creatures that feed off the dead tissues that gluten, sugars and dairy create by distruction of living tissue and mucus barriers (especially).

Kahnsentrayshun;
Remember NEVER expose your skin to the sun when you
have used lemon or any citrus fruit on your skin, or you are
going to have burns and stains.

Re: Acne

Kahnsentrayshun, do you smoke cigarettes? I noticed my face broke out once I started smoking and plan on quitting soon. I know products that have tea tree oil and/or green tea work great..for me atleast with the acne and the skin in general.

EDIT:

These products are great for the skin:

Try to find a castile soap that has tree tea oil.Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap is great, but if you find another brand, then that would also do.

Aubrey's Green Tea Moisturizer also is great. It makes your skin smooth and crisp. The price is a bit steep, but it lasts a while, since you only need a very small amount and it smells good too.

Like the others said, diet plays a role. Newstarget is a great health website that you can look at. It talks about acne and other things about health. I hope this helps!

Re: Acne

The ultimate, by far for acne is the ocean.  If you are close enough to the ocean that you could go there once a week and spend 30-45 minutes in the salt water, your acne will disappear.  I used to have problems with acne too, and every time I went body-surfing for a couple hours, my acne was noticeably better a couple hours later, and completely gone the next day, or at least healing fast.

(I also have a friend who swears by apple cider vinegar.  Just put some on a cotton ball and hold it on the affected area until the skin at the tip begins to turn white.

Re: Acne

All of your advice sounds great! I bought some pH strips about a week and a half ago and have been testing my pH regularly. My pH starts out low when I test it directly after waking up, (5.5 - 6.0) but then when I take an apple cider vinegar shot, drink a lot of water, eat a carrot, and eat a grapefruit, it shoots up to the 7 - 7.5. I've noticed that by keeping my pH up my face feels better and it doesn't produce as much oil.

My diet right now consists mainly of fried rice (brown jasmine rice, eggs, carrots, onions, garlic, olive oil (no butter,) soy sauce, salt, and pepper,) oatmeal with organic peanut butter, 2-3 grapefruits a day, 3-4 whole carrots a day, and some sort of vegetable for dinner along with a piece of meat (usually chicken, fish, but sometimes steak.) I also have been taking 3-4 shots of apple cider vinegar a day (I haven't tried putting it on my face, I'll try that out.)

I was eating a lot more citrus like 5 days ago, but I ran out of lemons... But during that period is when my face felt the best and was producing less oil.

I read today from "The Potassium Conspiracy" thread that potassium is very important for a pH balancing diet. So I still need to get some of that potassium salt...

Man I love this forum... There is so much information about everything... Anyways, I think I need to step up my vegetable and fruit consumption while sticking with the apple cider vinegar shots, cayenne pepper, molasses, while applying the lemon juice to my face and possibly even the apple cider vinegar. I'm having trouble finding blackstrap molasses. I have first molasses (Grandma's Robust.) I hope the sugar content isn't too bad...

It'll be nice when I get a close to set diet, with some room for new additions...
