Topic: The Pope steps in it...

This may be a sign of things to come.  I hope.

Father Corona to the Indians:
"Down on yer knees, lads,
Domini domini domini, yer all Catholics now.
Do you recognize what I'm holding in front of you?"

The Indian leader replies:
Why, that's a cross, the symbol of the quartering of the
Universe into its active and passive principles"

Father Corona:
"God have mercy on their heathen souls!"

Capitano Cortez:
"What the father means is, what is the cross made of...
gold.  Do you got any?

The Indian leader replies:
"No, but we have this...

Capitano Cortez:
"What's that?

The Indian leader replies:
"Corn."

one of Capitano Cortez's men yells,
"CORN!!! NOW WE CAN MAKE TORTILLAS!!!
We been waitin' for hunnerts of yeers!

Re: The Pope steps in it...

This isn't the first time Pope Benedict has stuck his foot (and more) in his mouth.  It's almost as if both he and George dub-ya have the same speech advisors!  It really is pathetic... this guy's going to undo all the efforts of  Pope John Paul II and any/all the progress he'd made.  At this rate, I can see how Nostradamus' prediction (of Rome being nuked) can be true.  Somebody ought to tell the Pope to take a closer look at the 3rd part of the Fatima prophecy.

Re: The Pope steps in it...

No, let's break open the Vatican Library and put it all on display and
everything they've looted from the ancient civilizations and the indigenous
people needs to be returned first.

Then they can nuke it.

Re: The Pope steps in it...

No kidding!  I'd love to see that happen, as well.  Wouldn't it just be a kick in the ass if there were alien relics down there too!

Re: The Pope steps in it...

That makes you wonder..maybe thats why it'll be destroyed, or possibly attempted. Either to destroy artifacts  or have them moved then use it as a cover of "oh, they all must have been destroyed"... just thinking out loud

Re: The Pope steps in it...

I was born Catholic.

There, I got that out of the way...

But I do not believe in its religions, even most of its principles.  Common sense was the backbone of Jesus' teachings, that and I hear he did some far out shit.  The funny thing about the Cardinals electing this particular man to the most powerful office in religion is that he actually looks evil.  Have you seen a picture of him smiling?  I have, it's kind of a half smile...like he forced it.  And this was a scripted picture reserved exclusively for a Catholic environment (Catholic high school).  Of course, the Cardinals are all too familiar with the alleged prophecies of St. Malachy.  Whether genuine or forgery, these writings have purposefully shaped the decisions of Cardinals each and every time they vote for hundreds of years.  If the Cardinals put weight into it, then I'm willing to learn towards the genuine side.  These people may have a shaky spiritual foundation, but they are intelligent people for the most part.

And if the prophecies are true, then most of the Cardinals are buying into the whole end of the world scenario.  No surprise there.........

CC--I'm glad I wasn't born under the oppressive rules you had to
endure.  Consider yourself strengthened and innoculated against
their diseased teachings.  The real teachings of Jesus are contained
in the Gnostic warnings against the theocratic religions, IMO.

Re: The Pope steps in it...

Tom,
This is a fantastic and somewhat reassuring incident. Twenty years ago there would have been little reaction to this effort to rewrite history. The numbers are down for Papal parades and the discontent particularly amongst priests gives the indiginous people of South America a chance at reconnecting to what has been stripped from them. The thought of the Pope getting slammed in any South American country is shocking. I'm always a little skeptical when the home of 'measured tones' overstep it's bounds. The arrogance may stem from the assummed ownership they thought they still had in South America.

I think I heard one of those annoying game show sounds, you know, the one that rings when someone gets the right answer.  But just insert the world where South America is.
