Topic: Need advice about teeth

I haven't been to the dentist in almost 10 years, when I was still on my parents' insurance.  Up until that time I never had a cavity, never had the slightest problem with my teeth.  I put off going back to the dentist, even when I briefly had my own dental insurance, because I figured the first thing they were going to say is better yank those wisdom teeth out, and I felt like that would be unnecessary.  And then I just thought, well why go, I never had any trouble with my teeth.  But here I am now with a cavity.  It's big enough that I can see it when I look in the mirror, and sometimes it hurts too.  So I am going to have to bite the bullet and make an appointment.

What types of fillings and/or procedures are safe, and which ones are not?  Anyone have suggestions on how to treat cavities or any other tooth problems?

Re: Need advice about teeth

Sounds weird, but try this:

I ignored that thread for the longest time, didn't tug at me or interest me, but then I really read it and thought Huh...interesting.  Couldn't hurt to try, so I bought some sunflower oil and did it.  Nothing noticeable happened that I could see, good or bad, and then I eventually got lazy and stopped doing it.

Later on I began experiencing an issue with one of my teeth.  I still have a baby tooth in my mouth, because it never had an adult tooth underneath it, and coincidentally it was the one tooth out of the bunch to get a cavity when I was five. hmm  Go figure.  So it has a mercury filling in it.  Since it's a baby tooth, the gum has disintegrated a bit around it.  It's never had any real problems though, but then one day it was hurting.  This went on for over two days, and I realized it wasn't going to go away.  Something needed to be done, I don't have insurance, I don't believe in doctors anyway, they usually cause more problems than good, so, try the oil swish.  It worked for others, and I got the intuitive nudge that it would work.

So I tried it, did the oil swish a couple of days in a row, and amazingly the pain in that tooth immediately went away.

I have no idea what the issue had been or why oil swishing worked, but the problem hasn't returned with that tooth, luckily.   I don't know if the oil swish will help with a cavity, but it helps with teeth in general as well as mouth stuff and overall health, from what I'm hearing.  Couldn't hurt for people to try it out.  May prevent future problems from developing.  If anybody does it though, go for high grade organic sunflower oil since it's probably cleaner and better.

Re: Need advice about teeth

Thanks lyra, I will try that! smile  Sounds like it might help my sinus problems too.

I don't know what's going on with this tooth, I definitely have a cavity in the top of it, but it's really sensitive around the gum line too.  It has a little bit of a strange taste around it.  I know that teeth aren't supposed to be able to regenerate after they start to decay, but somehow I don't believe that.  The last thing I want to do is go to a dentist.  I'd rather give it every possible chance to get better before I go that route.  I'm partly kicking myself right now for not having been in so long, and partly thinking that if I do go it will just end up making things worse.  I don't believe in doctors either.  I feel almost like this combined with the pain in my ears is a scheme to make me go running back into that system.

That's wild about your baby tooth, I've never heard of that happening to anyone else.  I have heard of people losing their adult teeth and having a third set come in.  I always tell myself, if I lose any of my teeth, maybe I will be able to do that.  But I'd rather just hold on to the set I already have.  They're not all glossy white and perfect, but they do what they are supposed to do LOL.

Re: Need advice about teeth

There is another thread here about natural tooth care too: http://forum.noblerealms.org/viewtopic.php?id=2709

basically, don't use any sort of toothpaste with glycerin, as this prevents remineralization of the enamel.  The author recommends unscented bar soap, strangely enough.  It wasn't until after I read that that my dad told me he used to use pine tar soap to brush his teeth when he was in the Amazon (pine tar soap is great stuff all around, shampoo, soap and toothpaste).

Re: Need advice about teeth

Thank you limukala, lots more good info in that thread.  Oops I guess I should have posted this in the health section.  Yeah pine tar soap is really good for lots of things, always a good thing to have on hand.

Part of the problem with my tooth feeling sensitive is my gums are receding.  I use an electric toothbrush and I think that makes it worse, because it's too harsh.  So I'm definitely going back to using a regular toothbrush.

Re: Need advice about teeth

Remember for pain to you use clove essential oil to numb. I've used goats milk soap to help my gums when they start being bad. Above all you don't want to get an abscess (god awful)  though if you have a deep cavity go to the dentist if you can afford it.

Re: Need advice about teeth

Hi Athenais.  I am in the same boat as you I think. The difference being that my mouth is already full of amalgam fillings, a.k.a. poisonous mercury.  I have had many fillings. I am 35 and now have so much heavy metal poisoning that it is severly affecting my health. I was going to do the oil pulling to help with my health. I bought three bottles of organic cold-pressed sesame oil months ago. I didn't get started though because from what I've read, you have to have a sufficient amount of saliva to get it to work (for the oil to become thin and white), and I have a chronic dry mouth because I smoke.  So I kept putting it off, until one day I said screw it, I'm going to try anyways. Well, strangely, I couldn't find those bottles of oil. Something was up. My body was saying wait just one minute. That's when I did the Indian type of muscle testing (swaying) and it was telling me no. I was very confused, so I went online and looked for more information about oil-pulling. I found a very informative website that had like a question/answer section about it. So I came to find out that oil-pulling is a very effective way of removing heavy metals from your body, along with other toxins. I found out that oil-pulling is not a good idea if you have a mouth full of metal, unless of course, you're wanting to get rid of your fillings. The oil pulling can literally loosen metal fillings. Soooooo, I'm not doing the oil-pulling, because I don't have the money right now to go and get every filling replaced with a composite filling. And honestly, what if the composite ends up being as harmful as the mercury, yet they won't find out for 30 years? So basically, I'm screwed.

For gum disease, a diluted solution of tea tree oil and distilled water swished around once a day (at bedtime) will help. Clove oil, as mentioned will help with the pain. But if you don't already have mercury fillings, I would highly recommend the oil-pulling technique. Many people swear by it, for general health problems as well as tooth problems (loose teeth, at least...don't know if it will heal over a cavity or not). Sunflower oil is used by most because it basically has no taste. Sesame works as well. I also read a few people use olive oil. I think the most effective method would be to use all three at different intervals. One oil the first week, then switch, and so on. Olive oil seems to whiten the teeth, but others say that coconut oil does a better job at it.

The earth clinic link is the one with the Q&A. Lots of information there...

Re: Need advice about teeth

hi,

i dont know how relavent this is, but....

ive had a real bad pain in my lower right jaw recently.  so bad that i cant open my mouth too wide.  i too havent been to the dentist in years(got my wiz teeth out late 03).  i also dont wanna go back.  i kinda have something against the whole darn medical system(i know im not alone).

anyway, ive been doing colloidal silver, and rinsing/gargling with himalayan salt brine.  it doesnt feel that bad anymore, unless i move my jaw around in certain ways.  and its nowhere near as bad as it was at its peak.

my thinking is that taking silver sublinqually will eventually fight against infection in the whole body.  and the brine is what your mother probably had you do when you were a kid(i still remember how bad that Mortons iodized salt tasted".  sea salt would probably be just as good, but the stuff from the himalayas is the only healthy salt left.  there might be persian salt, but ive only seen it in "salt lamps".  if you live in a well populated area. you should be able to find a little bottle in your health food store labeled "pink himalayan sea salt" or something to that effect.

also i read on here a debate about silver, and i have my own reasons why i believe it is totally harmless.  but still, look up the other side of the argument to see if it scares you away or if u have a bad feeling about it.

if i were you, i would do anything i could to prevent that dentist.  it'll probably be like a mechanic, where you go in for one problem and then they tell you that you have a bunch more smile.

pardon my fear, friend
