Re: What did you do when NR was down?
Hey again everyone! Missed this site last week. Glad some enjoyed that post on LotR as much as I did. It was fascinating to read - and thought some here would enjoy it as well.
I posted that when I was at my brothers place, when I had just lost my job and had no place to go. So the plan was for me to get set up in waterloo, get a place and work - even if it was a fast food place. And so with all the 'help' from my family it was almost a go except to conclude I had to write a contract for my mom saying what chores I could do to stay at her place for a week. I was very hesitant at the time, and I didn't want to write it out. My bro and his girlfriend didn't understand why I didn't want to do this one last thing - and then the phone rang. Two days before I was looking for jobs at a job bank and saw a position with a traveling carnival. It sounded fun so it was the sole place I applied to over the net - and the phone call was the job. I took it and so far it's been a week and this is by far the most amazing experience. I get to see 26-27 different places all around southern ontario for the next 6 months. I get to work outside and it is so refreshing than the constant grind I did before working in restaurants! Today I walked to the mall 'cause I wanted to see what was up on NR.
I'm still reading LoTr over again and wow, it is such a great book and I'm only 1/3 done picking up a lot more symbolism this time around. zenden that link looks intresting and I'll definately check it out.
Travelling has opened me up to the world and people around me and I can definately feel that change is occuring. What is really intresting is that I have been devoid of most media except the radio, and to be honest the radio is horrible! The only news is that of death and most songs are about sex. I've never noticed how foward the radio is in these times.
Pictus, that is a great question and I'll read more into the roll that Gollum plays in the book.
Best wishes to All
