Topic: Niagara Falls Thunder Alley

This is a site I found a few years back while looking for more info about the Scow, the stranded sand barge just upriver of the Horseshoe Falls. As someone who has been to the Falls a few times, I can say it is a magical place- one of the Seven Wonders without a doubt. And it is absolutely in my blood. The story of the Scow is an amazing one, and just one of many amazing stories on the site.

I have since spent many hours there forgetting about daily issues- it's one of those sites you can really lose yourself and step back- the historical photos are breathtaking, and many of them are pre-1900.

As much as NF has been commercialized, with all the museums and what not, that can never overcome the beauty and the power of the place.....

Be sure to check out the FallsCam too!                   J

ape-x,
NF is my old stompin grounds. Use to hang there a lot as a teenager.:) Grew up in the Buffalo area.
Yes, the falls is a very powerful energy area, most falls are. The neg. ions the falls give off are a big energizer!   The story of the scow had always fascinated me as a kid. I was glad to see it was still there when I was up for a visit to that area last yr.  Up until about 10yrs ago, I used to have a reacurring dream about going over the falls.:| But I do agree, it is a place of awesome beauty despite the commercialism.

treehugger, isn't it amazing that barge has been there for 90 years... ice floes, wind and erosion and still it's there!

I do wish they could bottle the essence from the Falls- I'd pay top dollar for it.......                                 J

Re: Niagara Falls Thunder Alley

Yes it would- it wouldn't be the same as being there, but it would be a nice substitute big_smile           J
