As for remote viewing or directed second sight, I quote Steiner from Initiatory Knowledge: "
Jacob Boehme would be a solar type of clairvoyant. He could push aside his own self and enter into the 'thing in itself'. Here's how second sight works: look at something, a shadow for example, and deliberately push aside the sensory impression. What is left when the sensory impression is pushed aside? what remains is the spiritual (manifesting itself in an etheric image). This is the process of second sight. Druids have done this kind of work in the past, tasting the nuances of the shades of the shadows of the sun-light as projected by their dolmens, in Stonehendge for instance, in different period of the year, according to their own astrological calendar. With stronger and more systematic efforts, possibly with egotistic or fallacious motives, it becomes remote viewing. Using spiritual powers to serve oneself is a path leading ultimately to black magic.
If I feel I am sensing what something else is sensing in another part of the planet, this is second sight (RV), even though it does not necessarily involves the sense of sight. Every other sensory organ can be involved in remote viewing. People who live in monasteries often do a lot of remote viewing, because they are litteraliy 'remote' from the world, in mountains, in the country. Paracelsus had this gift of second sight, but he melted this visionary faculty with intellectual formal knowledge, with enhanced his capacity of knowledge and his healing herbs and metals discoveries. He developed therapeutics through his imaginative power. This is eminently solar, it is linked to Inspiration, but in a slight ataviastic/retarded way. Saturn type would be Swedenborg, with his gift of knowing truth and falsehood in the same way we differentiate warmth from coldness. He gained this atavistic power through sexual abstinence, with is a non-developemental way of aquiring powers... i.e. this is abnormal powers, and his rigourous discipline revived atavitsitc powers latent in him self. Finally, a lunar type would be somnabulistic. Normally, dreaming should not be followed by actual muscle movements, but in the case of somnambulism, the muscles are not paralysed in REM dreaming, and thus the person is influenced by moon forces taking him upside and walking. Taken away from gravity forces by the levity attraction force of the moon. Imaginations are given through moon influences, atavistically, it becomes fanciful fantasy and imagination, followed or not by somnambulism.

Concerning the duality of clairvoyance, here's some precisions from my point of view:
Steiner distinguished two kinds of clairvoyance. The first one is one that occurred naturally in everyone's past lives. This is the old clairvoyance. Today it is an atavistic phenomenon. There is also some heredity principle behind that. Everyone was in his past lives, a clairvoyant, that is we saw the beings of nature which are invisible to us today, we were living beside masters of wisdom and also beside luciferic spirits. In Atlantis, ahrimanic demonic beings entered the scene - they tempted Atlanteans into black magic. There is some atlantean atavistic clairvoyance retained in shamanism (a siberian-mongol name for the phenomenon of trance involved in magical-medicine performance). Mongolis retained the qualities of Atlanteans to preserve atavistic clairvoyance. This sort of shamanism is frozen and rigidified. It is now no more than a parody of the ancient hyperborean wisdom.
It is awakening again through efforts in this sense by anti-grail lodges using military and secret governement agencies. Atlantis is being reinitiated.
In the times of the ancient clairvoyance, people used magic and drugs and exctatic practices to gain contact with the spiritual world. This is no longer possible to reach the spiritual way in a healty way by using these means. The new clairvoyance cannot rely on the powers of the blood, of heredity, which are of an atavistic nature.
In the past, Gods revealed themselves through visions and extatic experiences. Today, everything akin to vision is pathological. The old clairvoyance has fallen into demon's hand. they manipulate us by re-enlivening the atavistic clairvoyant faculties in our blood.
For example: visions from past lives are more often the result of possession than a real reliving of a real past life of our Ego. Also, Grays often talk telepathically and show images of ecological catastrophies or induce visions. They crawl into our mind by the door of atavistic clairvoyance. Parallel to ufo investigations, CIA programs also develop remote viewing and mediumship. They do this inspired by Grays and other so-called ET beings. Chips often induce sleepy hypnoid states. It is most often in these states between waking and sleeping that the so-called Et engage us in encounters or abductions.(By the way they aren't extraterrestrial at all. Everything on earth, including ourselves is linked to the cosmos, so that's nothing to worship them for. They are intraterrestrial but from a realm that we should call the Anti-Earth, or Hades).
Most atavistic clairvoyants reject logic. It is merely because they will loose their "power" if they do learn to think logically, with their own Ego. The ultimate proof that atavistic clairvoyance is useless is that we do not remember our past lives, where we were clairvoyants. But someone who developed his thinking to imbue it with will, and vice versa, imbuing his will with thinking, develops his Ego so that in future lives he will be able to remember clearly his past lives, without relying on misguiding visions.
Everything involving visions, hallucinations, from subtle hypnoid states, remote viewing (intentional second sight), to downright profound trance, are pathological symptoms of atavistic clairvoyance. the normal state of consciousness is drawn downward, the mid gets sleepy and delves into the unconscious (with its dangerous forces of the metabolism and complexes - demons - and so on). Spiritism and mediumship is equally dangerous, involving some sort of black magic. People who accord credit to mediums and their claims are relying on a misguiding autority that is a counterforce to the development of the Ego. One looses his will by becoming a clairvoyant. the person is in danger to get lost in the eighth sphere, which sucks everything in its shadowy existence (the moon is the counterforce of the 8th sphere, the realm of Lucifer and Ahriman).
Shamanism relies on atavistic faculties of the body. Demons manipulate this sort of clairvoyance, but they cannot misguide us if we are trained in logical thinking to recognize the illusions coming from visions, premonitions etc.
The new way of clairvoyance is developed by following a discipline in thinking, to reach the spiritual through sensefree thinking - a thinking that goes beyond the mere phenomenal appearances analyzed by the brain, a brainless thinking. Brain-bound thinking is the materialistic way of thinking, and by the way interest in spiritual can be utterly materialistic if one does not meditate to go beyond the brain experience of sensorial impressions.
But, seen from another side, we must rely our knowledge on direct experience, not visions, hallucinations or shamanistic practices. These produce a knowledge that is highly biased by the perceiver.
Me must avoid ‘objective occultism’, that is using occultism like a mere tool without understanding the involvement of the subjectivity of the Self in it. Also we must avoid the ‘subjective mysticism’, in which oriental theosophy and New Age like to dwell: rapture in extatic and mystical but fuzzy blurry state. A mystic is lost in the world of Ideas. A Spiritual scientist tries to go beyond the threshold without getting sleepy or in any "altered state" of consciousness. They for the new clairvoyance is not to get the mind below the threshold of ordinary day-light consciousness. This way we only get to know Under-nature, or Subnature, the under-earth squirming with locusts and ufos and demons of technology. We must get above the ordinary consciousness, not under. We move our way upward through sensefree thinking, by liberating thinking from the brain, by meditating without getting sleepy. We have to go beyond the mere sensory impressions to encounter the phenomenon as a whole. The phenomenal world is not illusion in itself, we make it into an illusion by clinging to it. The phenomenal world is natures open secret, that awaits our (re)discovery, not through atavistic practices but through the development of the Ego, capable to encounter the whole world of phenomenon as an expression of spiritual beings. In sensefree thinking, we encounter spiritual beings in Images that we make by ourselves, by concentrating upon it. People who get visions receive them independently from their conscious activity. It is imposed on them: that is a pathological symptom. Self-made imaginations are the key to sensefree thinking and (re)connection to the spiritual worlds and beings. We must learn, for example, to collaborate with nature invisible beings, in biodynamy or art. Not the ancient way of Nature's gods pagan cults, nor through shamanism.
what I exposed is a way of knowledge inspired by Goethe and furthered by Steiner.

Materialism and Spirituality: Life and Death, Berlin, February 6, 1917. From Cosmic and Human Metamorphoses (GA 175) Lecture 1. http://steinerbooks.org/research/archiv … oses_1.htm
"We must be quite clear as to the fact that when a man passes through the gate of death, the human individuality is at first for a short time, enshrouded in the astral body and etheric body; and that the latter after a more or less brief period – varying in different cases, but never lasting more than a few days – passes out into the etheric world and there pursues its further destiny; so that the individuality enters the Spiritual world with the astral body only, and continues its further wanderings in that world. The etheric body is severed from the human individuality just as the physical body was on earth. Now we must clearly understand that in Spiritualistic seances, – and the whole work of Sir Oliver Lodge is based on these, – only one who has real knowledge is able to distinguish whether the communications come from the actual individuality, or only from the cast-off, forsaken etheric corpse. This etheric corpse still remains in continual communication with the individuality. Only, when one gets into connection with the spiritual world in a round-about way through a medium, one comes in touch with the etheric corpse first, and so can never be sure of reaching in this way the actual individual. It is certain that there is in our age a striving to find for Spiritual existence some sort of proof such as is found by experiments in the laboratory, something which can be grasped with hands and that one can see before one in the world of matter. Our materialistic age does not care to follow the inner path the soul must take in the Spiritual worlds, the purely Spiritual path. It wants the spirit to descend into the material world and be discovered there. We are experiencing all kinds of materialistic Spiritualism, a materialistic turning to the worlds of the spirit. Now, it is quite possible for the etheric body, which has been separated from the actual human individuality, to manifest a certain life of its own which, to the uninitiated, may easily be mistaken for the life of the individual himself. We must not think that the etheric body when given over to the etheric world only manifests reminiscences and recollections, mere echoes of what the man passes through here; it manifests a real continuous individuality. It can relate incidents and say quite new things, But we should be going quite off the track if we thought that because a connection is established with the etheric body, we are necessarily in connection with the individual himself. It is very possible in the case of people sitting in a small circle – all being members of the family as was the case with the Lodges, all thinking in one way or another about the dead man, and all filled with thoughts and memories of him, – that their thoughts may be conveyed to his etheric body through the medium, and that this etheric body may occasionally give striking replies, which may really produce the impression of being spoken by the individuality of the dead. Yet, perhaps, they may only proceed from his etheric corpse. Those who are acquainted with such things actually find this to be the case, and when Raymond Lodge was supposed to come to his family through the medium, in reality it was the etheric corpse speaking; Raymond Lodge had not really held communion with the circle at all.

It is remarkable that such a learned man as Sir Oliver Lodge, who was for so many years interested in the subject, although in this case he was specially interested because it was a question of his own son, yet should not have known what has often been referred to in our Spiritual science, when giving descriptions of the atavistic forms of clairvoyance, which appear as presentiments. For this is none other than a very special case of Deuteroscopia. The case is as follows.
We have a medium. To this medium the Spiritual world is in a certain respect accessible; of course, as we know – through atavistic forces – such mediums can in their vision reach beyond space, but not only does their so-called second sight extend beyond space it also extends beyond time. Let us take a special case; one quoted hundreds of times. You may read descriptions of it, if you have not experienced it yourself through your acquaintances.
The case I mean, is when some one who has that tendency sees as in a dream, half in vision, his own coffin or funeral. He dies a fortnight afterwards. He saw in advance what was to occur fourteen days later. Or perhaps, one may see not his own funeral or coffin, but that of a complete stranger, an event to which the dreamer is quite indifferent. To instance a particular case, one may see oneself leaving the house and falling from horseback. This thing did occur – someone saw that happen, and tried to avert it, – but, notwithstanding all precautions, it still came to pass. That is a case of a vision extending in time, and what Sir Oliver Lodge describes is precisely this second-sight in time. His descriptions are given so accurately that it was possible to investigate the case. The medium through her forces was able to see an event still in the future. At the time she spoke, the photograph was not there; but it arrived a fortnight later, or thereabouts. It was then shown round to friends and relatives. This happened some time after but the medium saw it in advance, it was a prophetic vision, a case of Deuteroscopia. It was a pre-vision; that is the explanation. It had nothing to do with a communication between those on the physical plane and one in the Spiritual world.
You see how greatly one may be misled by striving to give a materialistic explanation of Spiritual circumstances in the world, and how blind one may be to the actual facts; such a vision is, of course, none the less a proof of the reality of a world behind the ordinary world of sense. The case is an interesting one; only it should not be quoted as proving a connection between the dead and the living. We must seek for the dead – if indeed we should or ought to seek for them at all – by following a really Spiritual path. In the near future I shall have many things to say on this subject; for it is my intention to give much consideration to the subject of the relation between the living and the dead."
