Topic: The necessity of opposing forces
In another thread, Zejith Themis brought up an interesting point that I'd like to expand on, but my additions wouldn't fit the topic. Here is what he said:
And are STO and STS really good and evil?
How would an universe work with either gravity only (no radiation) or radiation only (no gravitation)?
Can the balances of justice have only one plate?
I've had this same thought before, only considering light and dark. Imagine there being only light-- no night, no shade, no rest from the heat of the sun. Come to think of it, perhaps this is what the sun cult Illuminati wants, given the current global warming and degradation of the ozone layer.
Our physical universe depends on the tension created by opposing forces. Nothing can grow without friction. Bones depend on impact to grow. Cells need friction to grow, and molecules must vibrate to create physical matter.
My question is, how does this physical property express spiritually, and is it possible or desirable to do away with it? I suppose it can be sublimated to something higher. We don't see gravity as being evil, and we don't curse the night for being STS, so perhaps the spiritual binary system could work similarly.
I once read a fantasy series called the Saga of Recluce. In it, light/white magic (chaos)was largely STS (it burns, it destroys, etc), and dark/black magic (order) was largely STO (it strengthened, built, cooled, etc.) Now, the author did a good job of showing both sides of the story. Without chaos, there would be entropy, and without order, there would be no form. He also showed how chaos could be STO and order could be STS, despite what people generally thought about them.
Of course, I'm simply talking about the polarity we experience in 3D, but I'm having a hard time seeing how there could be no polarity in other dimensions as well. Any thoughts?
