Re: Marijuana

Seeker, I'm familiar with both indica and sativa from days of yore. Indica then was higher in THC than the sativas, but still produced more of a high than now. Your other points are well taken, and cause for thought. The effect of it depends on what is done with it. I do think that the use of the herb is definitely not for everyone. Unfortunately it became a "party favor" and is used indiscriminately more often than not. Everyday use has one great disadvantage: it reduces the effectiveness. The less one uses, the better it works. Great thread, hope it proceeds.

Bingo.   I smoked "weed", (from my brother) years ago but what I smoked was most likely NOT good ol' fashioned home grown weed.  It was genetically modified laboratory who knows what, probably using the process you mentioned in the latter portion of your post. Thanks for your post btw, it was very informative.  Gave me some insight into what the deal is with weed, because I had some really strange reactions to it when I smoked it.   It smelled like weed, it looked like weed, and was absolutely soaked in THC crystals, but man did it have a bizarre effect on me.   Just freaky.   I absolutely love the smell of the stuff and always joke that they should make incense that smells like weed.......best smell in the world!    But I can't smoke it.  I think I know why now, so thanks again for your insight.

Just wanted to add this on a sidenote:   In 1995, when I was 20, I was hanging out with my then boyfriend and his friends at his friends campus dorm at UCI (university of california, irvine)    They were all smoking out so I had some too.   It was not only the first time I'd ever smoked period, but also my very first time doing drugs.   It got me mildly buzzed, nothing special or worth "writing home about."   To make a long story short, I became bored hanging out with them and their innane conversation and bailed out to go hang out at a coffee house in L.A. called Insomnia, at the intersection of Beverly and Pointsettia, off of Melrose.    Got in my car and headed north on the 5 freeway.  This was about 10 pm exactly.   As I headed north, I was thinking yeah, that's where I'll go, Insomnia, when suddenly, a "voice" cut in to my thoughts, sounding very mature, almost maternal, like me, only older, and it told me I couldn't go there.

Without realizing what I was doing -- probably as a consequence of being buzzed on the weed I'd just been smoking -- I actually began mentally arguing with this voice, who was stubbornly adament that I would NOT be going there.  The voice even raised itself a little, becoming more firm and said "Nooooooooo.......you can go anywhere you want tonight.   But you can't go there."   Very firm, very loud, and very clear.   It sounded like a mother.

I'll never forget that.  It's the exact quote, and it, whoever it was, was using a compromise as a form of reason to get me to listen.  I relented and said "Okay, fine."   And I decided to go to the Winged Heart Cafe in Fullerton instead.  Because I was buzzed, I didn't question this incident and put it out of my head, just "went with the flow" of things.

Two days later at work I was flipping through a copy of the L.A. Times that was lying around and I saw that on the night that I had planned to go up to Insomnia, a man was jumped and killed at that very intersection, Beverly and Pointsettia, at 11 pm.   A man had waited in the shadows, and jumped on the first guy who came along, stole his wallet, and killed him.  That street (Beverly I think) is only dimly lit, like most of the residential side streets that are just off the main boulevards.   I could totally see how it happened.

I was supposed to be at that very intersection, at that very time.   It literally takes about 1 hour exactly to get from Irvine to Melrose, and be parked.

I always wondered....did I hear the voice because I smoked weed and so therefore, was more "open", and "in tune" ?    Did smoking the weed make me vulnerable to negative hyperdimensional influence which would try to steer me directly to an intersection at the exact time when someone was lurking around, waiting for a victim?     I don't know, I just know that weed had SOMETHING to do with whatever the hell was happening that night.

That was my intro. to weed.   Interesting.

Re: Marijuana

lyra, I was told by a practicing pagan that his "official" status as a member of the pagan religion allowed him to possess a small amount of weed for use in producing incense. I didn't know there was an established pagan religion with "members", and he could have been talking through his hat, but it might be worth checking out. I never did because I had no desire to join a religion.    That's pretty cool about being warned off something while under the sweet spell of muggles. I can't count the times a MJ-induced, heightened intuition saved my derriere. And I've had some of my best interior dialogues under the skirt of maryjane.    I just saw BlackBox's post, so I edited this rather than add another. When I say strains, I mean the variations within the two types, and cross-bred variations. I'll maintain forever that variations within types range further than between basic types. In other words, two different strains of either type can be more different from each other than indica and sariva are different from each other. There are pure-bred sativas that are totally "wheelchair", as there are indicas that really "sparkle up your day". There is a whole world of variety in the hemp plant.  I've also been thinking about the depersonalization aspect. I think that has to do with how much of a personal identity/self-awareness one possesses. I mean, everything affects everybody differently, right? Different perceptions, tolerances, reference points, etc. I know people who get sleepy from caffeine, and some who get energetic after taking tranquilizers. I'm just saying, it's a pretty big world, information is still being received...

There's a term for this, it's called paradoxical metabolization.  As I think I've mentioned before I used to be an Addictions Counselor in a Methadone Clinic, paradoxical metabolization was something us counselors had to have a keen eye looking out for, for such affects in the patients.  Often patients would come in addicted to opiates, but had other psych issues as well, such as bi-polar disease, MPD, clinical depression, and the clinic psychiatrist would put them on a drug or drugs to address these issues.

Indeed, when I was a teen, almost 30 years ago now (my, my how time flies!) I did just about every drug I could get my hands on except herion and PCP (thank my lucky stars I never got into herion, I'd probably be dead long, long ago).  I would take Black Beautys (speed) and lay down and "drift", I would take Quaaludes or Percodan (pretty darn strong downers) AND drink alcohol (also a depressant) and become the life of the party.

Paradoxical metaboliaztion is where the body chemistry metabolizes the drug in the opposite fashion.  I never took organic bio-chem in college so I certainly don't know the ins and outs of how this happens in the body, and what factor it is that makes this happen in some but not others, but it does happen.

And as far as picking up attachments through alcohol or drug abuse, I know from experience this happens.  One time when the C's, early on, were talking about attachments they identified one of mine, she even had a name (!), Ballea (or spelled something like that).  This attachment had died in the sixties of an herion overdose, she was a prostitute. She came into me one night in my teens when I was drinking and drugging, and having indiscriminate sex.  It took me until I was about 36 years old to get her to leave. I sure hope she made it to the Light and found herself some peace.

There's more I could write about drugs and the long lasting effects/affects, but this is a thread about marijuana. I thought it important to make these above notes though.

I do want to add--it is possible to extricate the attachments, psychological, and physiological aspects of alcohol and drug abuse, but it's not easy and requires a whole helluva lotta intention and hard work to do as much.  Once they've got ya they DO NOT want to let go, whether we're talking about attachments or cellular level imprints of addiction, addiction that is as foundational in the body as it can get, even after overcoming the psychological need for a drug, even after a long, long sustained period of sobriety.

Re: Marijuana

Auendove, is paradoxical metabolization a problem or a sign of a problem? Because that happens to me pretty often. As far as I know it only happens to me with caffeine. I will even have a caffeinated drink before going to bed on nights that I can't sleep.

Re: Marijuana

Hi ya seeker,

Sign of a problem?  I don't think it's a problem per se, as much as I think of it as different body types.  I don't think I have a "problem", or you have a "problem", like an health issue, just because we may, or may have, paradoxically metabolize chemical substances... I think it just means we have some kind of different body type/chemistry.  I was never educated at the clinic to the end that paradoxical metabolization was a clear indication of a problem, it's just something that was, just something that happens.

Wrap yourself around this one wink--

I've sometimes wondered if paradoxical metabolization is an indication of a Wanderer, or a psychic/intuitive. I can't substantiate this with any solid kind of follow up, it's just something I've wondered about.

And I can't let it go without saying that coffee definitely jacks me up (I didn't drink coffee until I was about 33 yoa, I'm 45 now).  I've recently had to start drinking decaf following my first cup of the fully leaded stuff because I just get too jittery. I haven't taken an upper in so very, very, long so I couldn't even tell you if my body still would react the same way.  GACK!  The idea of eating an upper makes me sooo sick to my stomach.  Cringe and shudder!

I was sent home from the hospital after my recent high blood pressure fiasco with Xanax (.25mg, the lowest does available) and if I took just even a half of one, which I did after I got home (I DID NOT want to land back in the hospital) I did react as I should've, sleepily... but it was a much different story when I was younger.

I've been sitting here getting some kind of gut feeling that there is more to this then I'm knowing, but I can't put my finger on it yet.

I'm sorry if I gave you rise to worry... please try not to worry.

And I'm curious, I had sent you two PM's about a month ago well before montalk switched his server, and I'm thinking you never received them because my new server was blocking what montalk's old server was sending out, such as subscription notices.  Did you even receive my emails?

Re: Marijuana

Thanks... that's a good explanation.

Oh and sorry about the email... I actually don't use my Yahoo mail regularly so I forget to check it for weeks on end. I would change it to my primary email account but it might open me to an attack as my full identity would be revealed. All I can do is promise that I'll check it more often! Sending a reply to you, btw.

Re: Marijuana

From a medicinal standpoint marijuana does indeed help for many problems, most notibly nausea and poor appitite-these are just a few.

I have a girlfriend who is in horrible pain due to back problems.  She has indergone so many surgeries that I have lost count (at least 6 so far).  Eventually she was put on lo dose morphine (oral) which helped a bit, but she didn't really like the idea of having to take this for the rest of her life.  Eventually enough was enough, and she just refused to take any more of the morphine in spite of all the pain.  Well, her dear mom (age 70) some how managed to get some marijuana in an effort to help her daughter.  It was kind of funny because her mom is pretty conservative and all, don't even know where she managed to get it either.  Anyway I get to the mom's house to meet my girlfriend- I was going to remove the staples from the most recent surgery (they were long overdue on being removed, and she thought she'd go nuclear on the doc).  The mom say's "look what I got Sue to help her with the pain, I hope it helps."  Lo and behold there's this bag of weed the size of a regular potato chip bag!  Holy moly!  Mumsy even bought a cigar pipe to go with it!  End result being that it did indeed help with the pain and without any of the side effects that morphine is so notorious for.

That's a philosophical-truth that I stand by also...

But what if you could see your aura at all times. Perhaps a bunch of yellow and orange in the middle, with some blue around the throat area, and indigo and violet coming from the top areas. Maybe one colour dominates the others, with orange predominantly showing among all other colours. Perhaps the colour that is apparentthe most is a sign of status, and colour changes a sign of growth or degradation.

Then "what if" by smoking a joint, your aura's composition radically becomes affected. Light colours become sweeped with darker colours: grey and black. The permeability loses its integrity, allowing little punctured holes to occur. All of this is happening while the person feels no negative feeling whatsoever, goes to bed, wakes up fine, and continues their day. What if such effects are only noticable to someone aware of it, rather than on first-attention elements like work, kids, pms, biorhythmic cycles, etc, which consume so much of their focus.

There's a certain upward motion which occurs when someone seeks to rise to adepthood. It is a path that occurs past a certain crossroad. When someone takes a step upward, isn't it possible that subtle elements that were considered harmless or positive in past-times, may now be equivalent to soaping the soles of a seekers feet? slip. slip. slip. "Hmmph, this journey is taking much longer than I had thought...I wonder what is weighing me down..." Maybe the adept may even be so distorted by these subtle habits which he/she assumes are beneficial just by their "intent", that they end up traveling on a different road altogether. The original path being lost due to progressive effects of synaptic-lag.

This is the point I am trying to raise.

Re: Marijuana

Now that's some food for thought, BB. It made me think of a cat waiting patiently for a bird to swoop close enough to snag. Previously benign individuals waiting for an indication that someone might be "attempting to escape", now triggered by that awareness to start building the barricades to thwart ascension. BB, do you know what the readiest, cheapest way to perceive my aura? I've been mildly interested in Kirlian aura photography, but never really investigated it. It sounds like you would know about this.

Re: Marijuana

I have had mild auric awareness when practicing my concentration methods, but alas I am a child at a candy-store when discussing it. All theory, no active practice. The more I work on my energy-development, the more I feel I gain higher ground towards achieving it though. There are even two sites that have a pretty good procedure for gaining it, however I just don't have the motivation to put my time and energy into undertaking them. I believe that such things need to be developed successively until it becomes effortless. But maybe you 'do' have the motivation to undertake the direct methods.

Aaron, I recommend the book"Your Auras and Your Chakras, A User's Manual" by Carla MacLaren. Totally deviod of bells-and-whistles but highly practical if you actually do the excercises. She says in the intro that if you want to be an instant Merlin, this book is not for you.

Re: Marijuana

LYRA offered this:

From "Return of the Warriors", by Theun Mares, Chapter 10, page 231:

"At this juncture I feel that it is appropriate for me to offer a word of friendly advise.   In this day and age, in which there are so many well-meaning people who are genuinely searching for the truth, drug abuse has become a serious problem.  In their attempts to achieve altered states of perception and hoping thereby to gain a glimmer of knowledge, people of all ages have allowed themselves to be conned into taking trips.

"As is clear from this book, there was a time when Toltecs too walked the path of drugs in desperation.   Thus we do not stand in judgment of those who still walk this sad path, but from personal experience all true Toltecs will agree that in the end the results do not justify the ill-effects of drug abuse.   Anyone who wishes to have real knowledge must become a whole person and must have all of his faculties fully operative.   However, the damage done by drugs both to the brain and the nervous system of the physical body is irreparable, and this renders the person concerned unfit for warriorship.   Once the brain of the nervous system has been damaged, full control of the emotions, and threfore, of intent, is impossible."

I say,
YES YES YES!

I say,

But it doesn’t make you aware of the present.  It is escapist!  The present is both easy and difficult, smooth and bumpy.  Weed is an opiate.  It is an escape, it gives a false sense of enlightenment.

I could go on and on about sources and quotes and stories about how it is harmful, unbeneficial, leaves you open to all kinds of negativity and destructive forces….

But my bottom line is this:

A human being can get “there“? without weed, without psychotropics, and without any external substances.

A human being can get “there“? through meditation, yoga, tantric ceremonies, reiki, shamanic drumming, developing lucid dreaming skills, developing out-of-body experiences and remote viewing skills….

So why not just take that path?

The path of getting there through cultivation brings the real, more subtle, more profound understandings.  The path of cultivation brings real, lasting power.

The path of getting there through substances is the path of ego.  “I want enlightenment and I want it now!“?

What path is more genuine, beneficial, fulfilling, empowering?

They cannot arrest you for doing breathing exercises!  But they can arrest you for having weed on you.  Why play into their game?  Why put yourself at risk?  Why give them any hook?  Why risk addiction, holes in your ethereal bodies?  Why open yourself to all the junk in the astral plane?

We are vulnerable enough.  The information thrown at us is confusing enough.  Why take an unnecessary path when you can get there from your own disciplined cultivation?

I say,
I am with you on this, BlackBox.

Whatever benefits these substances may have had, or whatever ceremonial ways they might have been useful with ancient peoples, we are in a very DIFFERENT era.

We are exposed to astral junk beyond anything other peoples experienced with all the technology and manipulation.  These substances open the door to enlightening truths but they ALSO open the door to all the junk.  And they do nothing to filter them into good and bad categories.

You are left exposed and without discernment, and thus you just absorb it all.

Warriors need all their wits about them.  Warriors must learn to travel through those dimensions by their own innate abilities, not by relying on the ingestion of substances.

Let's get MORE FREE not MORE ADDICTED.

Re: Marijuana

i would just like to say that i believe Acid, Mushrooms, which i never would have tried if i never tried pot- are what led me to the path of enlightenment.
They opened my mind to realizing that theres much more to the world than we are "told" or "taught"

I admit sometimes i wish i didnt smoke as much pot as i do, but on the other hand i do not regret that i do it. it not only helps me when im feeling bad, achy, or frustrated-- but it can let me relax my mind and have fun etc.

i can agree it is a form of escapism. i mean, i bet alot of us kind of want to 'escape' all this bullshit from day to day...
some use artificial methods (drugs) while others use natural methods(meditation) and some use both, like me.

WE do the filtering, and regardless of whether u do drugs or not you are going to be bombarded by JUNK...
