You asked what the hidden agenda is behind all this.

It's many-fold from what I have seen:

1. To further destabilize our view of what a "citizen" is.

2. To further erode our economy, steering the US toward a thirdworld
type economy.

3. Possibly as pretext for martial law,
  when enough "natives" feel truly threatened and begin to take up arms.

4. To create an air of apathy among native citizens, to "forget" the way it was no so long ago, in order for us to begin to embrace globalization more, and be willing to relinquish our sovereignty.

5. For the establishment to have a fall guy when the economy does crash- they'll have someone (many someones) to blame.

6. Further distraction from other equally pressing issues, i.e. the ongoing Iraq debacle, and a likely attack on Iran.

6a. An already strained military, made even weaker at home and abroad- leading to more vigilante type behavior and more justification for more martial law- a very vicious cycle.

Most of us can see the enemy, it's not the immigrants who are just wanting a better life.

They are being set up.

How about enforce selfishness/patriotism, encourage bigotry, increase a belief in a need to fear and defend/protect, "support" body/nation-centricness and the need for walls, boundaries, borders, blockades, "boxes" in which to live... basically all around instill and encourage the constriction of the energies of the people, rather than encourage openness, expansion, etc. at a critical point in the advancement of the wave.

"Stay tightly in that little mind, don't dare walk that short path to the heart." Same song and dance that's been around for centuries, just stepped up to fit the [rapidly] changing times.

I don't know about anyone else, but I can feel amazing energy/awareness shifts and changes within my own energy field lately beyond anything I'd experienced prior. Intense and fairly constant since late February, but more so just in the last 2 weeks. So  perhaps there's something on the horizon, and this immigrant stuff is a way to use an old issue to get people to make choices they don't realize they're making, by siding with old alliances and beliefs.

Bingo.  Althought Venezuela & Bolivia are not cooperating as the others and for good reasons.  I do think that NAFTA was just the starting point in creating The United Countries of America (UCA).  Economically, in terms of number of consumers this appear to be the path chosen by the "top dogs" to be able to compete with the Pacific Rim, Chinese and European economies.   Whether we like it or not it sems that is where we are heading.

And to Sowelu, can you describe the nature of your intense feelings?  I've had them as well, sometimes bordering on anxiety, sometimes an upswelling of hope.  Which side of the spectrum are you experiencing?

A thought on the illegal immigration issue:

Maybe this is part of an ongoing effort by TPTB to make W and the Republicans look bad. Lots of issues have popped up lately(oil prices, Katrina and so on), which seems to indicate an effort to drag down the administration. Maybe this is all designed to force Americans to turn away from the current political rulers. I don't pretend to know why they would be doing this, but there seems to be a lot of things going wrong for the current rulers. Who knows why.

The NWO elites have to destroy the idea of national sovereignity in order to establish their one world government.  The plan necessarily includes bringing this country to its knees economically and psychologically (as is systematically and incrementally being done) in order for this to occur. 

A major component of their overall plan includes flooding the U.S. with third world immigrants (in this case, mostly Mexican & other Central American nationals) to help lower the standard of living and create a permanent cheap labor pool, cause further animosity among the population, add "cannon fodder" for their endless wars on designated "enemies," fan the flames of bigotry among all sectors of the population, and create chaos and a sense of over-all alienation throughout the  society.  All of these factors are envisioned as helping to pave the way for the so-called Pan-American Union (as Tenetnosce already pointed out), which is the next step in their globalization efforts for the North and South American continents (after NAFTA and CAFTA).  In short, "divide and conquer."  Nothing new there.

Of course it plays perfectly into their limited and phony "left-right" "liberal-conservative" paradigm, and, as we've seen, the mainstream media will play it up on cue in those same terms and sensationalize the coverage with headlines about "massive protests" and huge "walk-outs" by the so-called "immigrant community" as if these events are happening "spontaneously."  Many of the politicians will grandstand about the importance of "opportunity for all," extolling the virtues of past immigrants, bla bla bla...All playing their parts perfectly according to script, spouting the usual cringe-inducing nonsense.  And then the so-called hate-mongers (triggers?) will play their part to fan the flames from the other end, and well, you get the picture...all setting the stage for their "problem-reaction-solution" scenario.
