Topic: Eckhart Tolle

Last week I picked up two of Eckhart Tolle's books, "The Power of Now" and "A New Earth." I've been reading them simultaneously, and even though I'm only about halfway done with them, I'm totally amazed by Eckhart's writing. I highly recommend these books! The message he conveys is very simple and very straight-to-the-point. There's no fluff involved here.
Eckhart's view on spirituality is very unique in that he does not appeal to your ego. In fact he does just the opposite. His books are a deliberate attempt to break down your ego and sense of self. Ironically, this makes the books a bit difficult to read. It's frustrating because the books are not "fun." Your ego will creep in and you'll want to put the book down again and again, and find something more "fun" to do. At least that's the effect they have on me. The real power of his books comes as an afterthought, after you've put them down for the day.
Since reading Eckhart's books, my outlook has already changed dramatically. It's become much easier to observe the ego in "my" self and otherselves. I see myself less as an individual and more as an instrument of the Tao, the Beingness of existence, the Isness, the Source, and so on. Every life is an expression of this force. Think of the Force from Star Wars. Yoda had it right all along.
Anyway, check Eckhart's books out if you're looking for something new to read. You won't regret it. ![]()
