Topic: Psychic Energy?

Here are a few hints concerning the effective use of Psychic Energy (i.e: Mind Energy). Nothing new. These have been presented under different forms by many esoteric schools of thoughts.

The Chinese say "Where the Mind goes, the Chi goes", this is also valid for psychic energy.
The Bible says: "Where a man's treasure is, there his heart will be also"

As per Manly P. Hall's "Positive uses of psychic energy" and Ernest Holmes's "Science of Mind" (etc.), the simple act of 'Thinking' about something (idea, concept, abstraction...) VITALIZES it. This means the 'thing' in question is being 'fed' psychic energy. Imagine 'feeding' in this manner either an aspiration or dream, a fear, a positive attitude, faith, guilt, past memories, the concept of Infinity...Now imagine the resulting effects considering that the vitalized thought will become more magnetically charged with each 'feeding' it receives and therefore will 'exist' increasingly...Note: Not just a useless theoretical abstraction I can assure you!
I like using the analogy of a snail's eye, ever seen one? They are telescopic. They 'grow' as the snail focuses (or wakes up). Psychic energy works in a similar fashion during the 'vitalizing' (=energizing) process. The 'vitalized' idea also 'grows' a similar way towards materialization, towards the next 'idea', towards its intent...

Recommended reading: Try the afore-mentionned little book by Manly P. Hall (of the Philosophical Research Society). It is the best explanation of these principles I have found so far (32 pages).

great post, I chopped it up a little bit to ask you a question:

do you think that is the same as saying:

I create my own reality?

Re: Psychic Energy?

Yes. I think this method is just taking the reality-creation one step further. It can be applied to reality-creation not only in terms of physical manifestation but also in terms of things-there-are-no-words-for.

Re: Psychic Energy?

Does anyone have any tips for controlling excessive nervous energy (the need to always be moving around, tapping feet, etc), or understanding where it comes from?

Re: Psychic Energy?

Hi Morningsun,

As I understand it nervous energy is energy that is ungrounded. Energy centres are not balanced. In this condition, one is wide open to all energies. Thus not only is your own energy not flowing in a unified way, but you are also vulnerable to whatever energies are around you, hence the energetic twitches of not being able to sit still. As the body is a potentially unified consciousness, stilling the mind is crucial. This can be assisted by grounding yourself on a regular basis, daily if you can, as you rise with the morning sun smile

If you do a net search you'll find numerous methods of grounding. Sending out a grounding cord or pillar of light to the centre of the earth, and also upwards to as far as your imagination can take you is a way of anchoring your energy. I send a pillar of light to the sun, and downwards to an imagined crystal of my choice in the centre of the earth.

Doing gardening helps enormously, or being around trees or water, where there is a higher level of chi in the atmosphere, to walking the dog, or just being around animals.

Once when a series of psychic attacks were literally frying my nerves and making me twitchy and dizzy, so much so I feared crossing the road, I did an "emergency" grounding in my lunch hour at work, by leaning against a tree with my shoes off. Worked a treat. So nature is of great assistance. Send all the nervous energy back into the ground and give thanks to Mother earth for her assistance.

Talking of cystals, I find smoky quartz very grounding, but again you have to check out which crystals you are attracted to. Just having a grounding crystal on your person helps too.

If you are into Yoga, you could do what is generally called a salute to the sun. Most Yoga books have this exercise, as it works the whole body in a series of linked movements, helping the flow of energy in your body. 5 to 10 minutes of this every morning will have a significant impact. Always finish with a series of relaxing breaths to ground you.

Another thing you could try in tandem with this, is working on energising and balancing your chakras. With practice, you will get to feel which chakras need work on the most.  With nervous energy, it is usually the root chakra (base of the spine) and the crown chakra (top of your head) that need most work. But of course, the condition of the heart chakra could also be the heart of the matter.  smile Work systematically through each chakra everytime. In my limited experience I have found it is important to take your time, ensuring that you will not be disturbed during your energetic exercises.

Finally, meditate regularly - daily if possble. There is a Taoist stillness meditation that is deceptively simple but very effective for busy city dwellers like myself. Asking your higher self and your guidance, what the root of the nervous energy is might be a question for when you are meditating. You may find doing this first will get you still enough to contemplate other complimentary methods. Check out http://www.tomkenyon.com/articles/taoiststillness.html if you feel inclined to try this.

All in all, I think making a conscious decision to get off the whirly-gig on a regular basis to just work on yourself is the key thing. Hope this helps in some way.

P.S. Swimming regularly, followed by a sauna, will tone and detoxify your body and have a unifiying effect on your energetic centres. I think sauna's are great places to meditate.

The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Re: Psychic Energy?

Hi Vuyiswa,

Thank you for the input.  I probably need to dedicate more attention to these subjects; the time seems right.  I used meditation occasionally but think I'll probably try to make it more of a regular practice to help in staying grounded.

Re: Psychic Energy?

From my experience being nervous is mostly a sign of an over-active solarplexus chakra (lower mental body) Oftentimes the chakras have etheric connections/cords attached that lead “somewhere" . They might be attached to other humans or beings whereby energy is transferred whether to or from you. If you grow our awareness regarding your chakras you should become able to perceive such cords, they oftentimes hurt. Does your solarplexus feel “strange" ? Etherical connections usually become established through contact of any sort – even thoughts build one. At this moment I direct thoughts toward you, we are definitely connected, what should fade shortly afterwards of course. For instance, if I have contacts to business partners over the phone I sense their bodies being connected to mine. If they are stressed they “like"  (subconscious) to plug a cord to my solarplexus and transfer that stressful feelings. Detachment in any sense helps.
If that energy truly originates from yourself I second Vuyiswa’s hints. Sports and sauna afterwards are the best means to center oneself, more than any meditation is. Meditation makes me oftentimes less grounded, but too “floating"  in the etheric realm. But, yes, meditation/concentration on the chakras is helpful to get consciousness on them, what is helpful to recognize what’s going on.
EDIT: just deleted some junk

Re: Psychic Energy?

I used to have a problem with nervous energy and occassionally I still do particularly when I'm in an environment or situation I'm unfamiliar with, but I would guess that's quite common with a lot of people.

Lately I've been experiencing a different type of energy, which I've been meaning to write about for awhile because I have no explanation for it and I've been wondering if anyone else here has experienced anything similar or knows what it is.

I've started calling it 'butterflys in my heart', which I know sounds quite strange but it's the best way I've found to describe it. I'm sure everyone here is familiar with the phrase "butterflys in your stomach" which is used to describe the sensation you get when you're very nervous.

Well I've been regularly experiencing a sensation which feels quite similar to that, but with two major differences. First of all I'm definitely feeling it from the area of my heart so I'm assuming it must be something to do with my heart chakra, and secondly it feels extremely positive unlike nervous energy which I would say is fairly negative, or at least undesirable.

I think I started feeling this new sensation about 2 or 3 months ago, I remember one of the first times I experienced it was when I was out in the city doing my christmas shopping (bizarre I know). The sensation was fairly irregular at first but these days it's happening almost daily.

There doesn't seem to be anything specific that triggers it, although I have to be feeling positive for it to come on, and the feeling can last for anything between 10 minutes to an hour or more, but usually less than an hour. One thing that often does trigger the sensation is when I'm listening to spiritual or uplifting music.

As I said, it feels like a very positive thing, like perhaps a very faint connection to the godforce, it's certainly not overwhelming in any way.

Is anybody experiencing anything similar?

Re: Psychic Energy?

Seems your heart chakra gets a boost of energy smile - the center of higher (unconditional) emotional love.
What is interesting to me, is the fact that you experienced it during Christmas shopping - perhaps in crowded places. I had similar experiences. After having gone through the struggle of attunement to the vibes in crowded places I described in this thread I experience a balanced state including the "butterflies in the heart chakra" you mentioned, what made me oftentimes wonder. Maybe that loving energy is just some kind of unconditional love towards humanity…?

Hi Ayahuasca...well, I've had something sort of like this which I wrote about here, but, I'm not sure if it's an exact match or not.  Here's the thread I started  which describes what I had:

http://www.montalk.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=705

Haven't had this in a while, but last year it started on July 16th, and I would occasionally get bouts of it in the months thereafter.    It was a mystery to me...sudden surges of chills or "palpatations" as I called them eminating from my heart chakra area.   Like you only lasted for a short while, maybe several hours, tops.   Could be several explanations.   Yours, like mine, also began in an unlikely situation....Christmas shopping, out in public with mass amounts of people.  For me, we had just settled into our seats in the theater to watch "I, Robot."    !??!   What's up with THAT?  big_smile    But that's when it began.  Throughout the entire movie I experienced weird fluttering and chill spasms eminating from my heart chakra.

Anyway, not sure if this helps or not.......

Re: Psychic Energy?

Hi Lyra,

from your description it doesn't sound all that similar. Although you didn't really say whether your experience felt positive or negative. Your description of the feeling being like shivers or spasms sounds like it was a feeling that was, if not negative, at least undesirable, or have I completely misunderstood that?

The sensation I get feels like a very warm glow, and to me feels extremely positive and desirable. Visions of ET (in the movie) coming back to life come to mind where you see his heart glowing. Well my heart isn't literally glowing but it kinda feels like it might be, if that makes sense.

And I've certainly had no 'Chakra burps' but that sounds interesting! I'll let you know if anything like that ever happens big_smile
