I have. If you have a good therapist, it should help resolve your trauma. Be prepared for an intense experience though. Your therapist should help you create a safe place in your mind which you can turn to if the feeling become too intense. The most common device used is a light which you follow back and forth with your eyes while focusing on the trauma. I had trouble with that though and used headphones which played tones in alternating ears instead.
The memory I used this therapy on was a dog attack from almost twenty years ago. I did about three sessions with that memory. Basically, you mentally go back to the experience while you are having your attention alternating between the left and right hemispheres. You do this and experience all the emotions that you could not experience at the time because it was too overwhelming for your mind. In one of the sessions I sat there just remembering the moment the dogs teeth were in my arm. Absorbing, accepting that I could have been killed at that time. So, you see, it can get intense. However, you are in control. You stop and take a break whenever the feelings become too much. You can go back to your mental safe place. During my last session with this after I had processed through the fear and pain, I found myself standing next to the dogs and forgiving them. Since then, whenever I go to my safe place they are there guarding me. Because of that, I wholeheartedly endorse EMDR. Just be prepared for an intense experience.
Be well and stay safe (((((TOL)))))
