Topic: Toning

Hi, I was wondering if anyone here knew of what exactly toning is, how to do it, the purpose, etc.

I ask because it is brought up in Bringers of the Dawn and other of Marciniak's books. It is recommended even in one of the follow-ups.

I'm guessing it involves using sound to interact with other types of life? I think of Taoists and Buddhists and the movie "The Last Samurai" when I think of toning. Is it the same thing as "Hummmmmm.....Hummmm....."?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Re: Toning

My tips:

Start with vowels. Try visualizing the sound or at least fully concentrating on it. If you do it right you should be able to hold the tone for several minutes. Concentrating on your rounded lips helps holding the tone. Do not rush through the process, with a little practice you should figure out the right way to breathe the sound out. I would suggest no more than 10 tonings/sound to start with and 5 or 6 sounds/day: the effects can be powerful. You have been warned. Om and Aum are great. Also Ra (masculine principle) and Ma (Feminine principle), Try practicing with the quality that you feel is lacking in yourself, obviously (Active or Passive), Or both if you like.
You will probably realize that you do not feel comfortable with certain sounds. This is very meaningful, once the particular sounds have been identified start toning them occasionally but not more than 10 times (maximum!) as the effects can be unsettling (=processing). With still more practice you will be able to tone sounds AND colors. Toning a color? Well, yes! You will also notice certain colors in the rainbow that you do not "like", the same way as for sounds.  Follow your intuition. While toning I suggest concentrating on the 3rd eye or the chakra associated with the particular color/sound (I am sure you can find the correspondences somewhere on the internet). You will probably notice some correspondances between sounds/colors/chakras and quality that you do or do not naturally "like".

Re: Toning

Thanks for your sharing your wisdom on this topic.

Toning colours makes sense, because it corresponds to our auras, the auras of everything around us, such as nature, etc. Wearing clothes of one colour can make you feel awfully comfortable compared to perhaps a colour like black that sucks the energy right out of you.

I'll practice these when my family's not in the house. hehe

Namaste.

Re: Toning

Something to try along these lines is overtone singing - that is, a form of toning where you accent certain frequencies your vocal chords produce by changing the position of your lips and tongue. It produces a ringing sound "on top" of your normal voice. Richard Feynman the physicist was interested in this. It's intriguing from the "harmonics" perspective, and fun to do yourself.

Re: Toning

Also called mantra. It is believed in structures like the tree of life, the chakras that certain expressions hold different vibrations which are of the same resonance as certain certain Sephera or energy centers. And it is known that Om/Aum is the sound of the planets heard on some high tech gadget recently.  And apparently these words hold a certain power, but I disagree, its the individual who holds the power in their reality. reccomend intense focus until the visualization and the sound and the meaning meld into one vibration which is You, this leads to many understandings but remember it is not a method of enlightenment, it simply creates awareness of the action of energy and essence, or a certain connectedness if you will.

Re: Toning

There is of course another perspective to tone, given by my spook friend Elias. I can dig it up if anyones interested.

Re: Toning

Ever notice that childern (usually 7yrs. and under) seem to have an innate propensity with toning?  Sometimes siblings have their own special kind of "language" amongst themselves, oftentimes including unique sequences of mantra like sounds.  Most of the time the sounds are made up, but  upon observation appear to serve a purpose.  Maybe they're doing what comes naturally before society "unteaches" them.  Sometimes the sounds evoke a noticed calming effect-or heighted energy with the "having fun" playing process.  Sometimes it is just to annoy, but nevertheless children do teach/remind us of "things" that later seem pretty insightful.

Re: Toning

RLHA11 - Yes I am interested to hear what you mean....

To share my experieces of recent with this;

Many years ago I read "life and teaching of the masters of the far east" by baird t spalding - it was a great set of books and really got my spiritual imagination going... in the books they speak of a temple that they visited where the access was through an entrance high in the air. The way the entrance was accessed was by monks blowing horns and using the multi-chord voice to resonate a large flat slab of stone and levitate it up the cliff face.

This, I believe is the same method by which the man who created the choral castle did his work. Someone mentioned thathe was seen singing to the rocks....

anyway - this multi-chord voice concept really really stuck with me. I ahve never forgotten about it - although I never did any active research into it - it was just a concept that was in the back of my mind all the time. I would listen to lisa gerard sing from dead can dance and always imagine singing like that but in the multi-chord voice. I also equated it to the sound of "the voice" from dune (my favorite movie of all time)

so, in my hour long commute to the city every day, a few months ago I just started doing some chanting/toning/ohm-ing.... I began to hear higher pitches into my lower tones that I was sounding... now I can hear them in just about any sound I emit...

I can at times produce extremely high and loud tones on top of other low ones - I have heard on occasion myself producingmany sounds - I dont know how many, but more than three or four. Some of them are really odd in that they only appear as "distant" "interference" sounds - or resonations. When I hear some of them I stop to see if it was a sound that I was actually producing...

I can start with a low vowel sound - but it can turn into a sound that, while producing still a low tone - the predominant sound is a very high pitch ringing....

I am still discovering how I can do it - and what internal mechanics are involved in producing a particular tone - but when I listened to the Spectral Voices sounds - I was floored.... those are the exact types of sounds I am producing - obviously though these guys have several years of perfecting practice on me - but for discovering the ability on my own as I drive about, I am happy with the results. Hopefully I can get in contact with this Jim Cole from Spectral Voices for some guidance....

anyway - thanks all....

Re: Toning

That's intrigueing phlux.

I also love the movie Dune. Did you watch the T.V. series remake?

---

I'm a little sheepish in practicing toning but I really wish to experience the multi-chord effect you speak of. It's deeply interesting.

Hopefully I'll find someone who can show me in person the process. Until then, I'll research the given sites and do my best.

Questions or comments?, Im more than happy to discuss and explore these concepts. smile

Re: Toning

Ill have to get through the link first - but I have the following questions:

with regards to the Solfeggio frequencies - does anyone know of a sound program that will allow you to record a sound, and as youre recording it through the microphone will tell you the exact frequencies in hertz thatthe sound being recorded is at. I would think that Sound Forge would do this but I am not sure...  or maybe there is a program which you can tell it to play a tone at a particular frequency.

This would be good for several reasons; 1) to be able to hear a tone at a given frequency so you can attempt to imitate it 2) to be able to know what tones your voice/toning happenes at in frequency to better be aable to focus your toning to a desired affect. 3) so you can experiment with particular tones to see what affect they have on yourself and other things.

Ill post more after I can read that link....

Hi,

I think BWGEN Software  - Brain Wave Generator at www.bwgen.com will do that for you.

Re: Toning

Here is another one to try:

http://www.qsl.net/pi6atv/software/gram50.zip

Audio Spectrum Analysis Spectrogram Ver 5.1
Spectrogram version 5.1 is a freeware dual channel audio spectrum analyzer for Windows 95/98/NT which can provide either a scrolling time-frequency display or a spectrum analyzer scope display in real time for any sound source connected to your sound card. Spectrogram allows unlimited recording and playback of the sounds from the audio spectrum display and can provide very high resolution spectrum analysis of wave files with a wide choice of frequency bands and frequency resolution and either linear or logarithmic frequency scales.

You use a microphone, or input a sound file (.wav) and this will show a scrolling graph of its frequencies.

So if you whistle at 500Hz, it will show a trailing line at that frequency whose brightness or blackness is proportional to the signal strength. When you overtone sing, you will see the base frequencies (one or two) and the overtone line.  Use the cursor to see exact frequency values for any spot on the graph.

Re: Toning

found an updated link that works a little better - thank you guys for the recommendations.... ill let you know my findings. I still need to get broken into the new laptop which I just got yesterday.
