But you DID express problems with people not liking the book. You got a little miffed at tenetnoche when he so much as questioned channeling, you said you were "concerned" about the the posting of a negative review of the book, and even said that our views were arrived at "so quick"...which is rather presumptuous. But if that's not having problems with it, I don't know what is.
Jen wrote:I do prefer that when people voice their opinions, that they take the time to give examples, and reasons, one way or the other.
Reasons were given......but you didn't feel they were detailed enough I suppose. That aside, montalk did say that he was composing an annotated version of the book, to be posted in the files section soon. So a very in-depth critique is on the way to satisfy all curious minds on the matter.
Jen wrote:I would actually not be thrilled with an indiscriminately positive review of the book.
Of course you'd be thrilled. ! We wouldn't be having this conversation if the book review had been positive.
!
Jen wrote:This is a forum, right? The purpose of a forum is the free and open exchange of ideas.
Yup. Which is why you're free to start your own thread about the subject, to be handled as you see fit. !
Remember, earlier in the thread I expressed my total lack of desire to debate this subject, because the goal of this thread is not to debate, but to present the other side that we're not really seeing. I present my ideas, people can do with them what they will. So if someone wants to talk about the other perspective, then they can always go start their own personalized thread to present it there. I've learned a lesson recently...............to (TRY) not get sucked into debates and back and forth exchanges, going rounds with people who don't see things as I do. There's no point. It usually doesn't amount to much. So this thread was meant to be the place for people to post that other viewpoint, in whatever form.
I also suspect that by some of us attacking the Grays issue, you're taking it personally...? You read our words, and it challenges you, your beliefs, your identity. Your defense of the Gray issue might not be about the Grays so much as it's about your own identity wrapped up in it, I suspect. But who knows, I could be wrong. But I've gotten that "taking things personally" thing from you in other threads, which is why I'm thinking it may be going on here...?
Jen wrote:Sometimes these "rant" threads mutate into something else, and that's what seems to have happened here.
Well, I'd be curious to hear what you feel it's mutated into. ?? For the most part, I'm seeing people expressing their ideas on the matter. (On a sidenote, I've enjoyed all of tenetnoche's comments in particular, he has lots of good things to say on the subject and is coming from a balanced perspective. I admit my views are extreme, so his posts bring good balance to a highly polarized subject.)
Secondly, to trivialize this thread as being nothing more than a "rant" thread considering all the intelligent, juicy, kick as posts it's received from so many people is nothing more than bias, and pretty ridiculous, imo. You don't like the anti-Gray viewpoint being expressed here, and can't handle a thread that tramples on a sacred personal cow. So now it's all just a "rant."
Jen wrote:I'll leave it to montalk to decide if we ought to move the discussion elsewhere--or scrap it altogether, because "this is an anti-gray site." '
Hahn?! You've taken it upon yourself to make a decision / conclusion (on behalf of everybody else on the forum) concerning *somebody else's thread*, mind you.....that this thread should possibly be moved....or even scrapped?? Then turn the "final decision" over to the moderator. This thread was here before you even started posting to the forum. You only just recently jumped into the discussion.
Wow.
I'll leave that for people to ponder. At least I can say that I've never suggested that anybody scrap their thread. Then, feign graciousness by turning the "final decision" over to the moderator. What's THAT all about?
Well here, let me try taking a stab at it...! You happen to be pro-Gray, which is fine....but you don't like seeing a thread that's anti-Gray / anti-abduction. And you want it to stop, right now. Claim what you will about supposedly not having problems with people not liking the book, but the SECOND the thread turned in that direction, here you are suggesting the thread be scrapped. Wow.
It's a bit control-freaky, wouldn't you say? !
