Re: Astral Projection
"I have to agree with Lyra and Montalk, astral travelling is like driving a Porsche 911 without brakes, and this is a soft statement."
I was just wondering if you have ever actually astrally travelled? Because speaking from my personal experience, and not the experiences of other through books, I have found astral travelling quite the contrary.
Robert Bruce, whose website you can find on the links page of www.montalk.net, has several published books about astral projection and astral phenomena. I found his books to be the most forward-thinking on the subject, and I my own findings concur with his own. The reason you are in no danger when you astrally project is, you do not actually leave your body. Simply separating from your body would not require the enormous amount of energy that astrally projecting does. However, what does happen is a holographic reflection of your consciousness is reflected into a newly-made astral body as a temporary vessel. When this vessel leaves your body to go fool around on the astral, having a blast, your body is not left unattended; the real you is still in bed, only THAT consciousness is wondering why all the lead-up and then no projection. The truth is that that person did project, but that projection is an action taken by a reflected consciousness.
When we later remember our astral journeys, or don't remember them for that matter, the thing to keep in mind is that only one set of memories can be recorded for a given amount of time in the brain. Which set gets recorded, the one from the reflection or the original, is left fairly up to chance, though Bruce suggests several ways to significantly increase the chance of the travelling body's memories to shine through.
I say with certainty, next time you project, stay near your body for a time. You will see both of yourself and experience dual consciousness, which will blow your mind at the time, though the sensation cannot be recaptured when in one's physical body. It distressed me quite a bit, and that projection ended there. But if you truly project, you will find this to be so, and then realize that worrying about your body is unnecessary and simply serves to ruin your experiences. I have never heard any personal stories of anyone being outright attacked or destroyed on the astral, but if it does happen, it will not hurt you, it was simply a dim reflection to begin with, and now your consciousness is simply reverted back to a single, unbroken stream. I assume that if your body is destroyed in the astral, you simply will think you had a failed projection attempt, as the memories are burned in the re-integration process.
Please read Robert Bruce's "Astral Dynamics" if you'd like an objective viewpoint floating in today's sea of metaphysical gibberish/subjectivity.
