I agree about staying away from the news. It inspires fear, and most of it isn't even real. I was watching CNN today (while waiting for my lunch to be made) and the story dealt with an army invading chad and some other african country in the name of "ethnic cleansing" . people were starving, blah, blah.
while starvation is a massive problem, what caught my attention was an interview with an african man which had to be translated into american. And i thought, "the translator can easily quote someone incorrectly...he could be talking about a movie he saw last week, and the translator could say that he's terrified and being bombed." just a thought, although it may not be so extreme in real life.
i find that cnn.com is a sick addiction for me. i tend to compulsively type in the address before even realizing it. i went for years without watching the news (as a child i never liked it, now i'm "paranoid" enough as it is
)
i want to stay on top of everything, and it can give me a sense of panic. i don't watch television, and reserve my tv for movies, otherwise give me a book anyday.
as far as nick berg, i looked over those articles that lyra posted, and i dunno. since that faked madison kidnapping which happened a few months ago- happened in my area...i'm sure some of you have heard of it? i have a hard time jumping out of my seat for most things. i wonder if he's dead? or was dead already? i don't know...what do you guys think?
