Topic: Have these topics been hashed anywhere? Geomancy etc.

Foreword: I can't say I'll be the most prolific member. For one thing I'm photosensitive, and even dimming & color changing my LCD fails to help matters much, as I develop bad symptoms. So I don't have the physical stamina to plow through many of the posts, even if they should interest me. My eyes begin to hurt, my metabolism speeds up, my muscles badly affected, dizziness & nausea.

So much for the introduction, now on to my questions:

(1) Does anyone know whether any paranormal scientists are developing a means whereby sounds from centuries past can be played back so anyone can hear them? As in "geomancy". I know that some people have the gift of hearing sounds emanating from ancient stones. I have a highly artistic aunt who has that ability, and it had frightened her "paralyzingly". And I read a testimonial by someone in a New Age magazine that he could hear everyone's thoughts, as well as the sounds of ancient Indian tribes emanating from an old stone down in South America.

(2) Re: Identical Twins Separated At Birth (by Nancy Segal). According to the speculations in Segal's book, monozygotic twins may be hard-wired to act in similar ways at similar time periods in their lives. Some questions arise.  Are genes hardwired? But where does "The Matrix" shine into this picture? Assume someone should make a conscious choice to always act counter to his/her inclination at any given time, no matter how difficult, would this always place him/her outside of his/her "hard-wiring"?

Any relevant links discussing these issues would be appreciated. Though anything too complicated would be beyond what I could physically handle.

Re: Have these topics been hashed anywhere? Geomancy etc.

Regarding number one: I do know that some paranormal investigators are recording the sounds of voices from the past, but not that I know of in the truly ancient time range, though that sounds like an area someone should try. Also, astrophysicists record sounds coming from the birth of stars billions of years ago.
"Cosmic noise."

Regarding number two: The twins characters in the Matrix, as well as the concepts of simulacra in Baudrillard, deal with the idea of repetition of memes, and possibly this could be carried over in the area of genetics. When we step outside our inclination purposefully, such as when we are inclined to watch TV but don't, we are creating patterns of behavior on purpose, and our intent may be to bend or break MCS rules. But if we go against our inclination out of fear, or willful but purposeless anger, etc., we are digging ourselves deeper into the system.

One's genetics are malleable, and enhancing them towards freewill is a choice. Forcing and straining against our particular weaknesses does not allow for utilizing a setback, or turning it into a catapult out of the MCS. Working with what is, one can trick the control system. For example, a painter with muscle degeneration disease could use the lack of control to avoid stiff, artifical brushtrokes, or choose abstraction. The content of their art could be "How to Escape the Matrix" in its meaning.

Oh, and Geomancy: Feng Shui is a worthwhile pursuit, as long as it is not followed slavishly and you meditate on it and know why you are doing it. A little goes a long way. WOFS.com has articles and products.

Well, actually, the near past & ancient past is 6 of one 1/2 doz. of other for all practical purposes! Any URL on this? I'd be interested.

As I mentioned, there's alot I haven't seen, including the Matrix, but maybe one day I'll get to see it, and thus be able to comment.

But if we go against our inclination out of fear, or willful but purposeless anger, etc.,

I think it's more the rule, rather than the exception, for people to go WITH their inclination out of fear etc..

For example, a painter with muscle degeneration disease could use the lack of control to avoid stiff, artifical brushtrokes, or choose abstraction.

Yeah, like, if life gives ya lemons, make lemonade. Except I can't, because I'm acid intolerant!

Anyway, thanks much for the input!

Hi Murphy !

I'll put up the voice research info ASAP. I'll need to look it up at the website where I saw it linked. I've heard these things on the radio, so I'll go to that site and look it up.

Let me get out my Baudrillard and see if I can find anything to add to this concept of twins and simulacra.

As for inclinations, I agree that most people do as you said. Stasis, if you will: their inclination is to stay where they are, and if you try to change, they will try to stop you. Yet, stasis just is. Change is generally slow, but inevitable.

Still and all, if one goes against one's inclinations, gritting one's teeth if necessary,
(gritting one's self?), in the efforts to Power through inertia and for the purpose of growth, one is, in my opinion, acting outside one's "hard wiring." Your question is like the one Asimov posed about robots: if they are programmed not to kill a human, and they do so despite this(in this case a negative action which one should never do but used here for analogy), what does this mean? Have they transcended their "robotness" and become human, or something else?

Since a human's genetics and "hard wiring" are malleable, assuming he/she's got a soul, then he is always stepping outside of whatever his previous programming was, assuming he's doing as above.

Twins are mysterious. Perhaps they chose a mirror soul in their twin to explore, in part, this very subject.

Maybe the example I gave of the painter was extreme, sounded poster-childish, etc. I see that now. I did see a story today of a woman with just those conditions though.
