Here's an interesting article on the Diebold-run San Diego County election.

On March 2nd, I was a poll worker for this year's California primary election. More specifically, I was a Systems Inspector in San Diego county, whose problems with voting machines and procedures received some coverage in the national media.

First, a summary of my personal opinion: I think that current electronic voting systems are better than the traditional systems in terms of security, and also in terms of usability for most people. However, I share the opinion of many bloggers that major security issues remain in the new machines and implementations, and that these issues should already have been fixed.

Democratic Slavery is my term.

The government of strings and puppets. Smoke! Look at the smoke kids!!!

People have so little time in the day as it is, but with democracy they talk more about the puppets and the strings and therefore have no time to actually talk about any real politics or know what the hell is really going on.

i'm from a small town whose population is mostly made up of the students that attend its university.  i am also a student here.  i just got this link via my email and thought it would be a good thing for me to get circulated where i live.  if anyone else can use it to wake up stubborn potential voters, that would be great.

for the record, the entire idea of politcs scares me.  i have a natural aversion to all things "cnn".  it all seems to be smoke and mirrors, and  as far as i'm concerned, EVERYONE is lying; not just bush.  i hardly think of kerry as a viable option, but at least distributing information like this is a way to potentially open some eyes.
