Topic: Doreen Virtue

Hi All, I just need some help with something that happened last night, I woke up at about 3am this morning and I had a name in my mind very clear and thought to myself I better remember it... anyway the name was Doreen Virtue... I got to work this morning and looked it up on Google and found out who she was etc... anyway the previous couple of days I had bought some books trying to read up and learn a bit more on all things spiritual and thought to myself I wish that someone could just tell me which books to read rather than have to read them all... then woke up with that name in my head.  I had looked through what she teaches etc and I am not sure that I agree or that it "meshes" with me and the beliefs I have established over the past few years, I dont feel like I can read any of it with an open mind as alot of it seems uhhhh a bit "out there".  Do any of you have an opinion you can share with me on this person?  thanks very much!

That is fascinating how certain you are about having heard that exact name without even knowing who she was at first.

I have read only one of her books, Earth Angels, and also have Archangels and Ascended Masters. I have previously posted this thread containing the Earth Angels questionaire.

One time I randomly got a call from a friend I haven't seen in years. She said, "do you know of Eva Cassidy?"

I answered honestly that I hadn't. She told me she had a dream where she saw me in a record store and I grabbed a CD by Eva Cassidy. She said she was looking on Amazon.com, and low and behold, there she was, Eva Cassidy.

A few weeks later I was in my hometown and a completely unrelated friend of mine asked me if I ever heard Eva Cassidy. He said he's kind of obsessed with her, and that I would really like her. Apparently she died very early in her career (I don't recall how), and now she's somewhat of a cult figure.

After those two very strange synchs I went out and bought what is supposed to be her best CD. It's okay, but I haven't really listened to it more than a few times. Didn't really inspire or move me. Over time I've heard similar stories about this Eva Cassidy.

The only solution to the mystery that I can think of is that Eva Cassidy didn't quite die, that she still exists here on Earth as some kind of ghost and she goes around trying to get people to listen to her music. She really wanted to be known for her music, and she still does, even in the netherworld!

So the moral to the story is just because someone whispers something in your ear, doesn't mean it's what you need. Maybe Doreen Virtue is doing some metaphysical marketing! smile

I don't know anything about Doreen Virtue, but if that doesn't happen to be her real last name that's a big turnoff for me.  It's a common new age thing, choosing high-and-mighty names for oneself to sound important, or in this case, virtuous. 

That said, I find it fascinating that you were asking for what you needed to read and did, apparently, get an answer.  It could be that she has something to say that you would benefit from, but it sounds like she doesn't really resonate with you, so if she doesn't, don't force it.  It could be that you need to learn about disinformation from her.  (Not saying she is or is not disinfo, like I said I don't know anything about her).  It could also be negative influence.  Mencius touched on this in a joking manner but it could well be true.  If she is disinfo, to the point that negative forces promote her to lead truth-seekers astray, then those same forces could have heard your request and suggested her name to lead you astray.

That's an interesting coincidence no doubt, hearing her name after asking about which books you should be reading.   Since I don't believe there are any coincidences ;) it probably means there's something in her material that "something" wants to bring your attention to.   But....it doesen't mean that her books are the full answer to everything.  Just that there is some piece of the puzzle there.  A starting place.  (watch, it turns out that every morning upon waking you hear a new name in your mind, of somebody that you should read. haha!)

If this happened to me, considering what Doreen Virtue's "schtick" is, I'd be, hmmm.  :/ Okay.  And I would look at the whole of what she's saying - guardian angels, connecting to higher stuff for help and guidance - and take that as the piece of the puzzle that I'm supposed to be looking at.   I would take it to mean that maybe something wants me to connect with higher positive stuff, first and foremost.  That's just my interpretation of it, because honestly I can't imagine how her books and "schtick" could possibly be the full and only answer that anybody needs to be looking at!  :lol:  No one source has all the answers.   

You asked what our personal opinions are of her, and for me I'll say that her whole deal makes me go :/ as mentioned.  Supposedly Virtue is her real name, the same way in which it is with Ellie Crystal, but who really knows I guess.  But what doesn't do it for me is that she's got this whole slick and packaged deal with her "Angel Therapy."   The whole "New Age For Money" deal.  "Angel Therapy Practioners" with a registered trademark sign after the title.  Books.  Events. Courses.  Certified Mediums.  (Certified?  By whom?  And by what criteria??)  And of course, the prominant "Ph.D." after her name.  I'm curious as to what she has a Ph.D. in.  (after note - I researched it on her website, and it's in Psychology, not exactly related to new age stuff, but she's doing angel "therapy" so, there you go I guess.)   

Anyway, you didn't say what spiritual books you bought, or what particular spritual beliefs or approach appeal to you most, but maybe people could post their recommendations here for you in this thread, give you something more to go on than just Doreen Virtue's work.

Hmmm yeah there was something about her that made me think automatically "yeah yeah, this seems like total crap to me" but then what would I know really?  Also just the whole thing about the way she feels as though she needs to dress in the "theme" of Angles and Fairies and all that stuff?  And the fact that  you cant find out much about her work if you dont pay for it... If I were gifted and had something important I was lucky enough to be able to share with others I certainly wouldnt charge for it... you know?  I dont know, it just seems to scream "crap" to me!

I bought the latest book by Allison Dubois and the big book of angels, I like to read about others experiences to compare to my own.  I think I am probably into after death communication and at the moment the idea of guardian angels (whether that is was to call them or not).

Thanks for your thoughts everyone!  I knew this would be the place to come to!

I'm sure I couldn't be the only one who had no idea who Gary Renard was.  I googled his name and found this Hay House Publishing bio on him:

Then I remembered seeing one of his books at Barnes and Nobles.  It struck me as sketchy when I was reading about it several weeks ago at Barnes, and it seems sketchy to me now.   Plus admittedly, "Ascended Masters" is a total pet peeve term of mine, I just hate it, I really do.  big_smile  So annoying.  Every new age person strives for "ascended master" level, and automatically gives credence to any entity that runs around calling itself one.   If a mysterious couple just appeared in my livingroom claiming to be ascended masters, my first thought would be "MILABS psy-ops experiment!"   But that's just me.  From what I gather, and from what my own personal experience tells me, truly high, evolved positive beings don't appear uninvited in your livingroom like that with the flashy theatrics, imposing themselves.  They seem to work from behind the scenes, and are quite content to do so and be anonymous, working their stuff without you seeing them or knowing about them, and then only come when called - if they feel it's okay to do so.  If not, then they won't. However, flashy theatrical appearances are the hallmarks of aliens, and government MILAB stuff.  See the book "The Gods of Eden" by Wiliam Bramley for how this same tactic was used on Joseph Smith, who founded Mormonism.  If that chapter regarding the flashy theatrical appearances of the "angel" that dictated things to Joseph Smith (seeming to be a hologram, as we'd now recognize it in 2007) doesn't give somebody pause, then I don't know what will.  !    But anyway, this is all unrelated side stuff, stemming from the mention of Gary Renard.

What's interesting is that Doreen Virtue's name popped into JM25's mind, like a voice of sorts.  Gary Renard had mysterious visitors appearing to him in his livingroom claiming to be ascended masters, and I guess from what Tengberg is saying, Renard endorses Doreen.  So, is it all just an interconnected psy-ops experiment?  wink  I don't know, makes me wonder.
