The Power of Now is an excellent book to get one started, but don't take that feeling the body thing to literally! Basically Tolle is saying by this that often we suppress negative feelings such as guilt, shame, anger, etc... If you are fully in touch with your body then you will not let such things foster.. don't forget what enlightenment is about: you recognize emotions as they arise and you simply let them pass without identifying with them whatsoever.. recognizing why they arise in the first place to the extent that you need to work out why 'they' are not 'you'.. appreciation without attachment. The perspective/state of awareness from which you do this, it is your state of being itself that can be more or less enlightened.. here the three unconditional and innate universal emotions are permanent albeit more or less realized or forgotten.. love, joy, and compassion.. free of dualistic and egocentric polarity.
So in other words The Power of Now is not the be all end at it is a good road sign.. consider that you do not feel your body, because your body is inanimate, and it is certainly not you in the first place.. where you a lung, a blood vessel, a bone or muscle, or some such thing, then the situation would be otherwise.. rather I believe you should reformulate your question about feeling your body along the following lines.. what frame/perspective/state of awareness do you wish to regard not only your own body from but indeed the entire world around you and your (relative to the extent that the distinction between Self and Other is relative) PRESENCE therein.. do you only ever see through your human eyes?.. no, the correct way to See is to be fully present in the Now so that you consider your body as part of your surrounding.. this does involve a tricky mental maneuver of reconciling the difference that you only ever observe your surroundings through your physical body.. but still although the eyes are the window to the soul so to speak they are not your state of awareness and they do not themselves decide how you choose to perceive reality!.. this all has to do a lot with what kind of presence you have in terms of your state of awareness in terms of activity vs. passivity (not either/or of course).. do you WANT and CHOOSE to be HERE NOW?.. or does your body exist despite yourself and you just follow its queues? Of course you are born physically from your body but eventually you manage to wake up.. that is the whole point I believe yes?.. so then you CHOOSE to be HERE NOW.. regardless if in the past you were just a drift of imagination following your body around..
Electrical feelings in your body is an entirely different point.. and it yes can seem cool at first and you will probably get carried away with its coolness and wish deep down that you were superman.. haha, it's only human don't worry.. you could choose to investigate this more fully.. but honestly the science of it is probably pretty boring and certainly of no interest to me!.. just remember that if you FEEL something IN your body then it is NOT your body but it may have something to do with your chakras or other things admittedly aligned in overlap with your body.. look at it from the wholesome perspective of thinking of yourself as a hmm well living breathing god with a bunch of spiritual faculties if you like.. don't start wondering about your nanolites interacting with your nerve cells producing a chain reaction energetic electrical discharge of a baloney nature.
