Ok so I watched transformers today.  Not the most spiritual movie, I know, but I was a huge transformers kid back in the 80's so I thought I would see how Michael Bay messed it up. 

The comment I wanted to make had to do with the end of the movie as the credits were beginning to come up.  I have thought for a while that Stephen Spielberg has been fascinated with Extraterrestrials for a while, and have heard stories about him meeting in private with famous abductees.  For starters he has been involved with many ET movies, for instance, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, ET, War of the Worlds, the Taken tv series, and Men in Black.  Anyway at the end of transformers you see the main characters parents answering questions from TV Reporters to report on their alien sitings.  The kids mom replies "Well I don't think there are any aliens, if there were then the government would tell us about them.  That is one of the benefits of living in a free country is that our government would tell us those kinds of things"  This statement is after we have been watching how aliens are running rampant all over the place and the military is well aware of them.  Right after the mother is done making this statement Steven Spielberg's name pops up on the credits screen. To me this statement was such a blatant message about how Aliens can and would be concealed from a free people by their government, and then up pops Spielberg's name immediately.  To me this was a message from Stephen saying, our government would conceal the existence of aliens and are.  Signed Stephen Speilberg.

I watched the 1980 version of Flash Gordon again today, after not seeing it since I was 7 years old.  I remember loving this movie when I was a kid, but it is one serious clunker (unless you like campy, cheesy, very poorly acted movies...which, to be honest...I DO!).

This movie is FILLED with Illuminate/reptillian/etc references.

Ah!  You didn't mention the funny part.  The lady is going on... "That's how we know we live in a free land because there's no secrets.  They'd say Hey, Duck and Cover."

Just watched it.  I don't find much funny but the way she said it was hilarious.

In case of Alien Invasion... Duck and Cover.

Ok, I guess I thought it was funny because I thought of the same joke before.  smile

I'm trying to find the title of a made for TV movie. I think it was on FOX and it was around the time the Matrix came out but I can't remember if it was before or after.

The story followed a man that had a nice and easy life. Everybody had a nice easy life. The man would buy a new car every week. Work was great too. But he would get head aches and see a different reality. If he was watching a parade he might get a head ache and see the people in drab tan outfits and holding pieces of cardboard instead of flashy parade outfits and instruments.

He discovered his reality was manufactured. The reality was some catastrophe had happened and most people were in a false reality. They were protected from the truth by a small minority that was trying to rebuild the world but keep the rest of the people in the dark so they wouldn't freak out.

The man would still get head aches though and see the same drab reality. He discovered that even the reality he thought was real, wasn't. It turned out that people were kept in boxes and they were monitored by a caretaker. There was no conspiracy. It was just easier and cheaper to create everything people wanted in the "matrix like" reality than to make it all in real life. The boxes would create whatever consensus reality the people in it wanted.

I know that's not a lot to go on but I thought maybe someone here may have seen it and know the title. It was a thought provoking movie considering it was a low budget TV movie.

Dang! I was really hoping someone else had seen the darn thing too. Oh well. Doubt it's out on DVD or anything.

I watched some B movies over the weekend, one of them was Nightmare City 2035. The concept seemed a bit similar to V for Vendetta but it was interesting because in the story the entire population of the city was microchipped except for the 'rebels' who are referred to as 'no-chip scum'. The chip made them all percieve the city to be a thriving and beautiful metropolis with Orwelian tv screens everywhere when in reality the entire city was in perilous ruin. And in part of the movie it shows someones chip get de-activated and their perception of the beautiful city melted before their eyes.

Also watched Shadow Puppets. The entire movie takes place in a dark underground prison lab where a doctors experiments in human memory erasure have gone horribly wrong. They somehow used the procedure on a man who was in a coma at the time, thus creating an evil nebulous flying cloud of death essence.

Also watched the entire Cube series. Cube, Cube 2 Hypercube and Cube Zero. The end of Hybercube was a tad interesting since it implied that secret organizations use parallel universes regularly according to their whim.

Hahaha... I just watched Monty Python's The Meaning of Life last night and it is an absolutely amazing critique on society.  The Crimson Permanent Assurance bit is definitely my favorite sketch and the Galaxy Song has to be my favorite musical piece.

What are some other movies you guys have found that zero in on the Shift?  I recently went to the Palm Springs International Film Festival to see the Spanish film "Chaotic Ana" - although it wasn't very well received by the rest of the moviegoers (IT DIDN'T MAKE ANY SENSE WTF OMG), I found it to be a very powerful film about the effects of over-patriarchy and one woman's journey to face society's fears.  She is helped to deal with a traumatic event by a skilled hypnotist who finds that she has lived many past lives and died tragically very young every time.

Ratatouille (the harsh food critic is named IGO - need I say more? smile
