Topic: Dark Circles Under Eyes

Sadly these formed while i was on Ritalin, i just looked at my passports photos, one taken when i was 10, the other 15, in the 10 picture i dont think you could see a boy with more life in his eyes and face, in the 15 it looks like i am half dead, the contrast was shocking when i found them, i forget too easy.

Anyway, i've recovered considerably probably since stopping taking Ritalin, i'm still growing, so hopefully my body has had the best chance to gets things as normal as possible, unfortuneteyl i've been left with very slight, but at times more noticable dark circles under my eyes(sigh:().

I'm really getting my energy back right now and i don't want to look ill anymore, cananyone suggest how i can get rid of them?

Thanks,

Miles.

Re: Dark Circles Under Eyes

Miles, is the darkened part under your eyes located right below (where some aged people have 'bags'), or is it more centralized in the inside corners of your eyes?  I've had a minor problem with the latter, since '03.  I've also noticed that it is becoming a sort of epidemic, all within the last 4-5 years.  People never used to be dark/purplish on the skin around the eye corners -- not when I was growing up anyways...  now you see it with maybe 1 in 3 people on the street, in actors from movies, etc...  Younger adults and teens even too.

Re: Dark Circles Under Eyes

Inner corner is dark and then under my eyes is more just colourless, not dark as much as less coloured than my face, it's more noticable if i become flushed for any reason, it then becomes noticable as whites circles beneath both my eyes, however on closer inspection again it would be found to be dark on the inner corner. Right now i'm getting quite deeply tanned and so i don't flush and the circles are less(if at all to anyone but myself) noticable, but i would like them gone so if and when my tan faded, i don't look tired or ill again...

Your probably right about the incidence of these circles increasing, i'm sure there are hundreds and thousands of contributing factors to this.

Thanks,

Miles.

Re: Dark Circles Under Eyes

Consider investigating any food intolerances, particularly if the dark circles come and go.  Wheat and dairy are the usual offenders - watch for other signs too, increases in restlessness, spots around the mouth, mouth ulcers, mucus build up, bowel changes, itchy skin that you can link to what you have eaten.
Such black circles are also linked to magnesium deficiency, and with ritalin prescribed, this may have also been initially a calcium deficiency as well - lack of calcium in many children causes hyperactivity/lack of attention - as do food intolerances...You could use tissue salts to supplement (calc phos and mag phos) or get frank minerals instead.  If you are still growing and have leg pain, heel pain, stomach aches for no apparent reason, (aka as growing pains) you probably do need more calcium.  Food sources include tinned salmon (with bones), broccoli, almonds, figs, dates, spinach.  For extra mag, all green leafy veg, as mag is the centre molecule in chlorophyll (the green pigment).
Ritilin can affect kidney function and this area under the eyes is associated with the kidneys so steer clear of hard diuretics like coffee, tea and coke cola/caffeine drinks replacing with plenty of water, barley water, cornsilk tea or you may consider dandelion leaf tinctures to help nurture your kidney function along.  Leaf, not root (often more readily available), they have different effects.
Kind regards

Good ideas & recommendations here.  Though I think the causes run deeper than a mineral deficiency, this can be a very good place to start.  One note though about the tinned salmon is that the liners in tin cans can release trace toxins & metals into the food (and also farmed salmon often has higher mercury levels to begin with).
