Re: "A Course in Miracles"? Yay or Nay?
I'm assuming Salt Lake City? If I may ask are you still a Mormon? If so have you seen the HBO show Big Love? Also, do you think Mitt Romney is a Son of Perdition?
Yes, I'm from Salt Lake City.
I was raised a moderate Mormon, began questioning it at 11 years old, started ditching and outright refusing to go until 15 years old when my dad stopped making me go. Then I began studying the occult. At 16, church leaders tried to rope me back in by asking me to speak at a youth meeting. I gave a great talk (without quoting scripture), everybody was impressed and thought I was super-spiritual, but I knew I had to walk away because what I said was obvious. If they thought that what I said was special, then there nothing I could learn from them.
In my early 20s I battled my parents about it, them wanting me to come back, saying I should pray about it. I told them I did and that God wanted me to stay away!
Finally, I had my baptism and confirmation cancelled and my membership revoked.
So, no, I'm not a Mormon anymore.
I have never watched Big Love, but I did have a polygamist friend in high school. A good friend of our family growing up was bigamist. And I have a good friend who dated a polygamist for a while.
I stopped watched TV news a year ago and all I know about Mitt Romney is that he's a Mormon politician and wants to be president.
I don't believe in the Sons of Perdition because I don't believe in a place called Outer Darkness that one can be condemned to. But if anybody's stupid enough to buy Mormonism hook, line and sinker, then they're bound to make the patsies in Washington look like Einsteins.
but you can avoid its teeth.
