Re: Triangle symbols in 175 year-old NYC building

HA! I am so going to see that tomorrow Lono!

The old buildings in NYC have a lot of symbolism that people just bypass everyday. Like the dork that I am, I actually just stop and stare at it for atleast 2 minutes and say to myself "wow, this whole symbolism is true after all". And you see it in really wealthy areas and ghettos that used to be for the wealthy over 50 years ago.

Examples would be buildings with old coat of arms with triangles, fleur dis lis, dragons, lions, two headed creatures and so on. People would assume that it's just European influence and that it's "cute" but I think not. I'm not surprised by the article you found, but what's funny about the article was there's a line that says "could it be some old patchwork?" (paraphrasing). Again, I think not.

I should buy a digital camera one day and take snap shots of the symbolism riddled all over the city and share it with you guys. Thanks for the link.

I'd like to see your pictures, Proto.  I'll bet that more than most other US cities, NYC is riddled with symbolism.  I'm sure it has less than DC, but still.... it WAS the gateway through which most immigrants came to America (hence the Statue of Liberty).

Re: Triangle symbols in 175 year-old NYC building

Wow, what a crazy sync.  So this design has a triangle surrounded by two other triangles right?

Well last week I saw some pics of a Daft Punk performance, and the crazy stage they'd set up had... yup... two large inverted triangles, surrounding a large upright triangle/pyramid that they performed in.

And then, this weekend I was in Victoria, BC Canada, and walking around downtown my attention suddenly turns to a big ol' sign for a "Lottery Ticket Centre" I think it was called, and the the logo for it was.... two inverted triangles surrounding an upright triangle.  The EXACT same shape.

They sure seem to be having fun with this, don't they?

Re: Triangle symbols in 175 year-old NYC building

Hi Proto,

I live in NY and until recently thought that our buildings were pretty boring compared to ones I have seen in Europe. However I did see the article on the triangle a few weeks ago and have passed some strange looking carvings on buildings lately that I never noticed before. There is one block somewhere in the mid 60's on the east side, all new, two story condos with giant orangey-red circles on the front of each door. Since they are located in such a tony neighborhood I assume they are custom desigend for members of the "sunshine gang" lol [if you get my drift]

Anyway I wanted to comment on this because I've started to keep a sharper lookout for symbols in NY. Interestingly the building I grew up in has a caduceus above the door yikes

Wow, that's strange.  I wonder what it means?  I have a somewhat personal interest in knowing the symbolism of the triangle, particularly the inverted one, as I have three dots forming one in the center of my forehead.  I've always wondered who "marked" me, and why.

A bit OT, but mentioning Daft Punk one of their songs is 'Harder Better Faster Stronger'. I think it's a song about clones or turning people into clones and making them be or work 'harder, better, faster, stronger'. Even the song's tune is hypnotic and very robotic sounding.

Now the NYC buildings, yes heard about that. They sure love their triangles those secret societies do, I admit I like triangles too.
