Topic: Sabian Symbols oracle
Montalk first introduced me to this website back in 2002, and admittedly at the time I was like Oh come on now! That's such bunk. An internet random oracle generator?! It's not going to work. Oracles only work with cards that you're holding, or psychic people that you're talking to face to face or at least through a phone, things like that. Stuff that you're touching and in actual physical/personal proximity of in some way. But an electronic computer generated "oracle" is contradictory.
Well, let me tell you...it works! So I take it all back! ![]()
The actual oracle:

Recently it's worked for me so freakishly well that I went and purchased the book by Lynda Hill (author of the website link above) from amazon. The book has all 360 oracle wisdoms in expanded form as well as the birthday chart, 42 oracle cards and the background explanation on where the sabian symbols originated and its ancient links. I got mine for about $14, it was very worth it.
Some personal examples of how I know it has validity, starting with today's incident which prompted this posting:
Recently I pulled out of a temp assignment that I'd been at for about 2 months. Nothing negative, just a case of them running out of valid work for me to do and me deciding it was a good time to go. I wanted some time off this summer anyway to kick around and relax, enjoy the warm weather. So I did, and this has been the first week of my nice vacation. I decided to ask the oracle for some insight into this time period that I have off, see what it has to say about it all. I started with the oracle deck. Shuffling the red deck of astrological signs, I intended that the right card jump out of the deck at me. Several kept popping up out of the deck as I shuffled, but I waited until it was just one, and one only. When that happened I opened my eyes and pulled the card out and looked at it. Sagittarius. Okay, and I put it aside. Then I shuffled the blue deck which is the numbers 1 - 30. Same intention....that the right card jump out of the deck at me. When it did it was a "1." So Sagittarius 1. I looked up the expanded meaning in the Sabian symbols book I bought from Amazon and contemplated it in terms of how it fits into this time period. (It totally does, but I won't get into boring personal back story about why.)
So then for good measure I decided to hop online and see what the electronic version of the oracle had to say about the same thing. (see link above.) I cleared my mind, focused on my question, with the passing thought going through my mind that "You KNOW you're going to get Sagittarius 1 again! haha!" then clicked on the galaxy....
And got Sagittarius 1. So I got it twice. !!!
There are 360 possibilities that the electronic version could have chosen, but it chose that one. Even more outstanding is that in order to get Sagittarius 1 from the cards it required first picking a card from one deck of 12, then another deck of 30, together creating the combination of Sagittarius 1. So the odds of getting it twice in a row, both ways is something like 1 in 130,000 or something, if I remember correctly what Tom said.
So, not a coincidence. No folks, we are NOT alone here! Stuff is watching us!
Another example:
Last weekend I was going to take a road trip up north. But the day before leaving I realized I had anxiety. Every time I pendulum dowsed it I didn't get a "No" that I shouldn't go, just kept getting "Maybe," so the anxiety wasn't that it was wrong to go necessarily. So what is it? I began wondering if there was something I should do before I leave.....hey, maybe try that new relaxation "rebirthing" breathing from the book that my friend from NR sent me? (has to do with generating prana and calming anxiety, and a whole bunch of other stuff.) But first, let's hop over to Sabian Symbols, see what it has to say about it all. I did, focused clearly and intently on it all, then clicked on the galaxy, and got....
Leo 9: "Glass blowers shape beautiful forms with their controlled breathing"
Keywords: [picking out the ones that applied specifically] "Prana....breathing method. Breath meditations. Rebirthing..."
Okay, THAT made me flip out! But in a good way! haha Again, there are 360 imageries to choose from, and that's the one I got. Specifically citing breathing methods and Rebirthing?!?! After I'd been wondering if I should do the rebirthing breathing??! Amazing! (I decided in the end to not go on my trip, for particular reasons.)
There are other examples where it matched up in freakish ways, but those are two interesting examples. There's something about this oracle that is pretty uncannily accurate when it comes to assessing a situation. They were channeled back in 1925. Here's the story, reprinting from the book:
One day in San Diego in 1925 (unfortunately the date was not recorded), not far from the harbor, astrologer Marc Edmund Jones assisted spiritualist-medium Elsie Wheeler into his car. Elsie was afflicted with severe arthritis, making any movement very difficult and most likely painful. Marc's car made its way from the house on India Avenue where Elsie lived up the sloping hills to Balboa Park.....Mark Edmund Jones wrote that they found a place where they could be surrounded by the vibrations of modern American life but would not be disturbed by passers-by. Also, as Elsie was unable to walk, they could not be moved from the car.
Marc Edmund Jones wrote in his book The Sabian Symbols in Astrology (first published in 1953), "Miss Elsie Wheeler was very anxious to start...it was necessary to provide uninterrupted hours, with a problem of inevitable fatigue to be taken into account. She had to be carried, no others could be present and conditions in general had to enable her to function in her accustomed manner. Balboa Park in San Diego offered a spot where a driveway was a matter of a very few years from one of the city's busiest traffic intersections, fortuitously meeting the necessity that work of this sort be done in the turmoil of some metropolitan or other unusually dense aggregation of people active in the business of being. There was a screen of trees and bushes, and during the day no one would show any interest in a car parked here for a few hours."
Marc had a set of 360 3"x5" cardboard cards that he had prepared. These were blank except for a small notation of the sign and number on one side (i.e., Aries 1, Aries 2, up to Pisces 30). Marc would shuffle the cards and place one in front of Elsie, neither of them knowing the sign or number on the card. Marc wrote about this: "One card was put face down before the medium, and she reported the picture she saw by inward vision. This was noted hurriedly in pencil on the card itself." During the whole process, Marc kept shuffling the cards. Hence, the Sabian Oracle clairvoyantly came through Elsie's psychically attuned mind completely at random (i.e., not in zodiac order Aries 1, Aries 2, Aries 3, etc.) They did ninety Symbols, took a break, did another ninety, had lunch and a short drive, then did another ninety and finished the last ninety at the end of the day.
That the entire set of Sabian Symbols was visualized and recorded in one day is a truly extraordinary feat! If the process of visualizing and recording the Symbols took four hours in the morning and four hours in the afternoon, on average 45 Symbols would have to have been visualized per hour, or one every minute and a half. Elsie Wheeler was obviously tapping into another level of consciousness.
The Magic Behind the "Experiment"
Marc Edmund Jones believed that Elsie Wheeler had tapped into what he called the "ancient mind matrix" of the Sabian alchemists of ancient Mesopotamia. Jones wrote that "...psychism seems to deal with [a] sort of group identity, or with an intelligence which is immortal in the fact that it can be revivified and consulted at will."
Marc said that there was a presence and cooperation "on the invisible side of life" of one of the Brothers of the ancient Sabian occult sect. At the end of the day, when the entire Oracle had been completed, Marc sensed something was wrong with one of the Symbols, and asked Elsie to do that particular one again. He felt this so strongly that it occurred to him that he was being guided by something, so he asked Elsie if "the Brother" was there. Upon hearing that he was, Marc asked her what he was doing, to which she responded that he was "standing with his arms folded." Marc then said, "Ask him why he didn't correct that." Elsie responded, "He says that is up to you." It appears that on all levels, a higher kind of "consciousness" or "intelligence" was operating.
[...] The Sabian people were an ancient were an ancient race of alchemists, living in Harran, a city on the banks of the Euphrates River in Mesopotamia, where astrology is said to have originated. Harran existed from the third millennium BC to the thirteenth century AD. It was the repository for the philosophy of the ancient Chaldeans, who were among the founders of astrology. The Sabians were alchemists who were into talismanic magic and hermeticism.
There's more, but that's the basic gist for anybody who's curious. Maybe not everybody will have the same mind blowing freakish luck with it all that I have, but then again I had a lot of luck with the Tarot when I used to do that, with the same cards flying out of the deck repeatedly at me and the way that I was able to figure out how to read the cards before reading the how-to book etc. etc., among other interesting Tarot escapades. So not sure if it hinges on the person who's doing it or not and having a natural bent for the occult
but I suspect that most people will have luck with this. There are 360 oracle images/situations to pick from and it's uncannily accurate....
