Topic: Mary Summer Rain and "Phoenix Rising"

Okay, it's high time we have a Mary Summer Rain thread going!  smile  Her book "Phoenix Rising" deserves special attention in particular, although this thread isn't meant to be solely devoted to just that book.  I've mentioned it in several threads recently and realize that most people here probably haven't read it yet.  I only recently read it myself, and think it's worthy of recommending.   http://www.amazon.com/Phoenix-Rising-No … amp;sr=1-2
It could be of great use to people for trying to decipher what in the frickity frack is going on nowadays.  Most everything we see happening around us was already prophesized by Summer's Chippewa shaman mentor, No-Eyes, almost 25 years ago.

One of the reviews you'll see in the above Amazon link gave it 2 stars out of 5 because he/she found Mary's writing style annoying, and her interactions with No-Eyes to be annoying as well.  Admittedly, I'm with the reviewer on that. big_smile I may be starting a thread about Mary Summer Rain but it's because I like No-Eyes and her message and I want to bring attention to that aspect of these books, not because I'm a huge fan of Mary.  Mary's personality gets on my nerves a lot, to the point where I also find myself having to put her books down and give it a break, just like the 2 star reviewer said.  BUT....many people really like Mary and her style, so don't take my word for it.  To each his own!

The quick background on these books - Mary Summer Rain is half Native American, married with kids and living in Colorado.  She crossed paths one day in the woods with No-Eyes, the old blind Chippewa shaman woman who lived alone in a secluded log cabin.   No-Eyes had Native friends who took care of her and made the trip up from Pueblo twice a month to keep her stocked up on food and other supplies.  No-Eyes had mentored other people over the years, and Mary would wind up being her last.   Mary's written a bunch of books, but the gist of the ones centering on No-Eyes involve No-Eyes' teachings and their time together.  If you like the Carlos Castaneda books about Carlos and his Yagui Indian Toltec sorcerer teacher don Juan, then these are complimentary.  It's the female-female balance to the male-male Carlos books.  smile

So with that established, I'd like to re-print the chronological list of events from "Phoenix Rising" that are supposed to be taking place in this time period.  As noted in the other thread where I mentioned this, some items on the list may happen before ones at the beginning, and vice versa, because the future isn't set in stone and things do change around.  Also, each section is given a metaphorical title according to the stages of the phoenix's birth from the mother planet.   Contractions, Emerging, Eyes Searching, Listening, Breath Heaving, Wings Flexing, The Wailing, Talons Tensing, Crouching, Flying Free.

The bolded items are ones that seem to have happened or are currently happening.

Emerging/Natural Disasters

-Major devastation in California [Since '85 there have been a few big quakes in Cali - '89 Loma Prieta, '92 Landers/Big Bear, '94 Northridge, and '99 Hector Mine; (I experienced the last three.)   Despite their damage it doesn't necessarily qualify as "devastation" however.  But still worth mentioning.]
-Earthquakes in new areas
-Inactive craters become unsettled
-Mountains become unstable
-Return of the dust bowl - The way things are going drought-wise in many areas of this country we're well on the way there.
-Record-breaking flooding  [MAJOR thing that's been going on since around 2000 around the world.  The deluge in Europe in 2002, and each year, 2002, 03, 04, 05, 06 and 07 there has been record flooding somewhere in the States, the most recent being Texas last month.]
-Tornadoes increase intensity and occasion [YUP, another big one...an NR poster named Alushe reported back in 2004 I think that New Zealand received its first ever tornado in history....]

-Rapid temperature inversions [YES, another big one....unstable climate around the country...]
-Frigid winers/deadly blizzards [YES, another big one.....crazy winter storms on the increase]
-Summer storms with intensified hail/lightning [YES...Just where I live alone I think there's been more strong T-storms this year than in the past three years combined, reaching the sort of intensity that we used to see down in Florida, with the black clouds, torrential rain, lots of lightning and strong wind, but it's happening elsewhere too.]
-Seeping natural gas (fires/explosions)  [Remember that weird story earlier this year about mysterious natural gas smells in various parts of the country? And several NR posters I think mentioned experiencing weird smells in general where they live, but not being able to pinpoint the source.]
-Underground fires
-Widespread surface blazes [Yearly wildfires that take out thousands of acres are the norm nowadays in the West]
-Major quake of the New Madrid fault (southern Illinois or northeastern Arkansas) which may jeopardize the entire Mississippi River Valley area
-Greenish hue to atmosphere - Phoenix Days [NOTE:  Does this have anything to do with chemtrails?]
-Higher pollution levels

Eyes Searching/Transportation Accidents

-Plane crashes increase [Might be....not sure what the normal average is or whether crashes are actually on the rise....]
-Shipping disasters increase

Breath Heaving/Discord Between Nations

-Grave economical differences
-Arms escalation
-Warring altercations
-Terrorism increases [An understatement - both independent terrorist group activity as well as government sponsored, ala 9/11, etc.]
-Undeclared wars  [AFGHANISTAN - never declared, Bush just went in and bombed the crap out of them after 9/11 under the guise of "bin Laden," but it was really to lock down the oil and for other more fringe, sinister conspiracies;  IRAQ, which Bush declared, but Congress didn't.]
-Clandestine dealing between countries [well yeah, duh.... wink ]
-High level secrecy [See above.  wink ]

Wings Flexing/Spiritual Unrest and Awakening

-Questioning masses
-Political church actions
-Government interventions
-Repression from certain religious sects
-Increase UFO sightings [UFO sightings have gotten out of control over the past ten years.....]
-Interaction with other intelligences [See above.  Every bookstore has shelves and shelves of books on supposed alien encounters, whether real or otherwise....]

I don't know how many of the items at the end of the list are wishful thinking or what.

What's not mentioned on this list is the pole shift....something No-Eyes took Mary on an out of body journey to witness from the vantage point of space.  They watched as the oceans sloshed one way, then all the way back over the other....obviously taking everything out with it in the process.  Whether that really comes to pass or not doesn't matter I suppose...but it's a useful reminder to pay closer attention to the things we place importance on.  Kind of gives that needed Big Picture perspective for us to keep in mind as we go about our days.

Re: Mary Summer Rain and "Phoenix Rising"

You mentioned "The Watchers" (I believe it was in the other thread) and how they've removed their protection from us.  Who are these beings, and how have they protected us in the past?

I have no idea, it didn't say in the book.

Re: Mary Summer Rain and "Phoenix Rising"

Ive heard "The Watchers" mentioned other times in other places, and they usually referred to angelic beings. But it might mean something totally different in this case. It sounds interesting, though. Some more summer reading to do.

True could be ETs or demons as well who simply 'help' to give humans the illusion of a somewhat stable reality which is just another illusion. Maybe by lettting it all go to hell they get a big loosh pay off.

Re: Mary Summer Rain and "Phoenix Rising"

One would think you were just listing topics from this weeks news. These in particular stood out. Thanks for the tip on the book. Just ordered it from Amazon.

Re: Mary Summer Rain and "Phoenix Rising"

Here are 3 versions of "watcher" reality.  They seem variously "good," "fallen," "punished," "bad," work primarily with witches, and are mentioned in the Bible, Book of Enoch, Sumerian texts (Sitchen), Egypt, the nephilim, etc.

Re: Mary Summer Rain and "Phoenix Rising"

Thanks for the recommendation lyra. I've ordered the book, as well as a book by Marshall Vian Summers, and I'm looking forward to it when it reaches my place from all the way from the West coast. (I bought it from a Canadian site, thinking it'd be quicker...but nope, seems their main shipping headquarters are on the coast.)
One of the things out of that last that I found particularly interesting was her hope that an "Indian Nation" would arise. I've came to this same thought myself. I've heard of authors speaking about this also. Several of the new 2012 documentaries are indirectly suggesting this as well.
So I think there's some degree of truth and probability this will occur. Whether or not this movement will serve a positive or negative purpose remains to be seen, as on one hand, you could bring people into harmony and balance with eachother and the Earth, or it could devolve into a national-socialist type scenario that begins benignly but ends brutally.

Lyra,
Just finished the book. You are right. She is incredibly annoying as a writer at least.

haha wink   But here's the odd paradox:  I like the character of No Eyes and the way she came across in the book.  I didn't care much for Mary.

But Mary's the one writing both "characters."   So if No Eyes comes across as likeable, then we have Mary to thank for that, even though she herself comes across as annoying.  So in the end it means she does actually have a good writing style.  Same with Carlos Castaneda actually.  I had no problem with don Juan, he came across as mischievous and intelligent, on the ball, the guy who knows what the deal is even when Carlos obviously doesn't, while Carlos often times comes across as an annoying, bumbling fool.  Yet Carlos is writing the whole thing.  Both characters.  So if don Juan comes across as likeable then who do we have to thank for that?  wink  A weird paradox...

Re: Mary Summer Rain and "Phoenix Rising"

Good observation about the writer being the one who brings likable characters to life, even if they themselves come off as annoying.  I've noticed that it's the standard mode of operation for writers to play the bumbling fool who's slow on the uptake.  Remember the Celestine Prophecy series?  The characters and storyline were fiction, but the main character was still portrayed as incredibly dense.  The same thing happened in The Way of the Warrior.  Is this just art imitating life, or do authors feel its necessary for people to see the protagonist as being slow and humble?
