Topic: Out of Africa!

Hey guys!

I returned from africa a couple weeks ago.  I had posted before i left asking about vaccine alternatives and got some lovely info about homeopathic remedies.

My family thought i was extremely foolish in not ponying up the 300$$ u s to get pumped up with viri but thanks to the net and this forum as well as guidance by the santa monica homeopathic pharmacy, I was directed to a pharmacy called Ainsworths Homeopathic Pharmacy.  They are located in London and instead of having to take a dash of this and that many many times a day they give you a pill to take 3 times a day, one day a week.

I was in tanzania where you need to worry about hepatitus, tetanus, typhoid, and of course malaria.  i was a little worried about malaria so i ended up taking malarone and did not have ainsworths include that in my remedy.  Their remedy for malaria has some kind of agent in it that causes a person to perspire in such a way that must make the little buggers revile.  I guess I felt that malaria was the biggest threat and i was not totally convinced about homeopathics (but enough to forego the vaccines for the other stuff) so i went with the malarone.

I did not get sick.  I got bit to hell by mosquitos at night which is when the malarial ones come out to play but i am fine.  I kind of wish i had tried the homeopathic remedy for malaria but oh well.

So chalk up a tally for another healthy return for a person sent to africa without real "protection".  Minus 300$$ for the pharmaceutical companies!

I also was advised to take echinachea. wormwood complex and a probiotic pill.

so thanks to barefootdoc and belijar and all the rest!

that's great kindkind ... that is a cool looking giraffe

i went to india about 4 years ago and i never got any sort of shots either - i never told anyone until i got back and people thought i was mad - i didn't do any homeopathy or anything else either - i don't think there was any risk for malaria there though - not exactly sure what there was risk for but government of cananda did have some recommendations of shots that a person should take when travelling there - but i went - drank the water - ate the food (i did get diarhea a few times), but other than that, never got serioiusly ill ... of course i was also born in that general area of the world so maybe that helped with the immune system ...

Re: Out of Africa!

I wish I had known about that. My son's friend got back from Africa, a month ago. He's been in the ICU with malaria. He's doing better now.

That's great that you didn't catch anything. The worst I've had to worry about was the water in Mexico, but I'd love to go to Africa, particularly Kenya. Good to have you back smile
