Postitivone: the two ways to find truth are to look for it or to sit and wait until it kicks you in the ass. Folks here are lookers, not sitters.

Re: Ay guys this space is just a cult.

Positiveone:

There are many characteristics of a cult that this forum does not exhibit. For instance, since cults have an "us and them" mentality you would have been viciously trashed by now in the replies by forum members because cults hypnotize people into magical thinking and when anything threatens that the members attack and attack brutally. Look how kind and benign the responses have been to your assertion. Also cults exploit people financially, sexually and in other ways. I have not found that to be the case here. And cults encourage members to neglect themselves-their health, their financial wellbeing, their relationships, their support systems, etc. etc. and devote all to the cult. I find the opposite to be true with the NR forum, people encourage self-care and sustaining significant ties to others. True, I may spend too much time on the forum because of a period of spiritual crisis that I entered into, and I should possibly start living in real time rather than on the Internet, (but hey I haven't watched TV in years) but that is my responsibility to curtail Internet living. No one has demanded that I spend a certain amount of time reading the literature and staying on the chat.-lala

Re: Ay guys this space is just a cult.

O fiddlesticks, pardon me folks I hit the bong yesterday and I remember posting that but I don't know why.

Yes this isn't a cult, but this forum sometimes feels like one.  And some people spend their delicate slices of time sucking in all the news.

I can't deny that theirs a growing idea in me that I shouldn't mix all these chakaras and spiritual ideas with my well being.

This isn't a cult physically but why do I and maybe you mentally feel an awkward tug into NR

PS. I felt it was of the most important thing to post, I saw myself from the sideline reading thru websites, the internet is a cult.

Re: Ay guys this space is just a cult.

lol  I think I recall reading a few posts across the internet that were written whilst under the influence of something causing various states of mind (not all of them influenced by external substances either!).  At least you had the balls to own up to it, Positiveone, and thanks for the clarification.  I've often thought to myself that the internet (especially the web) is a total time sucker and extremely cult-ish (there's a group for everything, it seems), and I understand what you're saying.  I think it's good to just disconnect from the "virtual world" sometimes and clear your mind from technology.  Sometimes you just have to disconnect from it all and refocus; reconnect with the natural world.  The internet is not going anywhere... it's become more than just a cult... for the younger generation, it's becoming a real (and large) part of their "real world", unfortunately.  It boils down to an individual's choice (just like everything else) of where and how we spend our time and intent.

Re: Ay guys this space is just a cult.

Postitivone, I kinda figured that's where you were coming from.  I think others did too.  Thus the playfully jocular responses.  In a sense though, you are right.  We don't yet have the necessary vision to see what forces may be attempting to work through a group of people.  So we can only go by our feelings.

And I have felt that tug and I have not just shrugged it off either.  At the same time though, this space can be used for the betterment of all involved no matter what forces may or may not be attempting to influence.  In lue of being able to travel around freely in real life, at least we do have something that connects us.  As unreal as it is, we can make it real by the very things we are doing.  That is to show allowance in this forum for all viewpoints.  To give that love energy.  To show intellectual honesty.  This creates an energy space that we all contribute to.

All that said, it's still up to the individual to realize if a particular group may be of benefit or not (or "no group" being the most benefit).  I've left several forums because there was no room for growth.  So many typing egos looking for their next meal you can't get an epiphany in edge wise.  I don't get that here.  I can post whatever I want from any level of the physical or spiritual spectrum and no one blinks an eye.  I don't have to worry about a thread being derailed by ego feeding non sequitors.

But I do think it's important for each to periodically reevaluate their interactions to ensure the optimal results for self and others that we interact with.  That's just being honest with self.

Re: Ay guys this space is just a cult.

Aw.. come on P, that's a copout. You want to blame a momentary lapse in judgement on the bong? I ain't buyin' it.
That's like the barfly who goes around impregnating because he had the "beer glasses" on..... if the will is there in the first place, then the alcohol becomes an excuse for every bad decision. You've been around long enough to know this won't fly here. The only part that bothered me was you calling it/us "nonsense". Other than that I thought it was humorous.

But I maintain that the net has served more for long-distance unification than for 'real world' dissociation or division.
Just like anything else, it can be used, or ABused. The web has indeed given people of like mind a venue where there would not have been one otherwise.

And like lala said, this thread is proof of the complete lack of a cult mentality here,
which is definetely worthy of shining the light on, especially for the prospective future readership, so for that I say thanks.

Yes.  That was quite obvious.  The only way a post like that could have happened was if you were completely drunk or high.

It's not the first time people have shown up on Noble Realms drunk or high or both and posted random gobbledly goop.  Is it so hard for people to stop........and think before they make that post?   You know, think, "Okay, I'm just a bit impaired here....might be best if I hold off on making that post...."

The worst is when it's somebody who doesn't even normally post anymore, then they get blasted, stumble their way back to Noble Realms, and then lash out at a particular person, or slam the whole forum in itself in their drunken/stoned craziness.  What's that all about?  Weird.  Why target this forum?  There's a billion others, why get high and go after NR?

Stuff works through people normally anyway, but never more so than when they're drunk and high.  !
