Update: The Articles of Impeachment themselves are now available, and can be accessed via a link at the bottom of the story.

After a series of delays, late in the day on Wednesday, Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), a candidate for president in 2008, announced a series of charges against Vice President Dick Cheney in Washington, DC. Kucinich alleged that the Vice President had committed a series of impeachable offenses and stated that he was therefore introducing Articles of Impeachment against Cheney in the Congress today.

Kucinich started off by reading the opening words of the Declaration of Independence, commenting that they were "instructive at this moment."

"Whenever any government official becomes destructive of the founding purposes, that official must be held accountable," he said.

The Ohio Democrat described his move as intended to provide a "defense of the rights of American people to have a government that is honest and peaceful."

Kucinich excoriated the Vice President who he said was "a driving force for taking us into war against Iraq under false pretenses, and is once again rattling sabers of war against Iran, with the same intent to drive America into war, again based on false pretenses."

The Ohio Congressman, who is running for president for the second time, noted three charges in his Articles of Impeachment, which were submitted as House Resolution 333. The first concerned manipulation of intelligence about Iraq's threat to the US. The second concerned manipulation of intelligence on the Iraq-Al-Qaida relationship. The last concerned what he called having "openly threatened aggression against the Republic of Iran."

Kucinich claimed in the press conference that the charges were "deeply researched" and insisted that his accusations were not just a political stunt.

"This is not brought forth lightly. I've carefully weighed the options available to Members of Congress, and I have found this path the path that is most important to take," he explained.

Kucinich dodged a question about whether or not he had the support of fellow Members of Congress. He said the Articles were just now being examined by Congress members and "you can't expect anyone to make a snap judgment."

He also said that he was only introducing the resolution and was not going to try and persuade Members of Congress to join him

"I'm not promoting it," he told Wolf Blitzer on CNN's Situation Room.

The former Cleveland Mayor further acknowledged in the press conference that he had not recently spoken with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on the matter. Pelosi had said last year that impeachment was "off the table."

In a conference call with today, the Speaker went further, telling RAW STORY that "President Bush was not worth it" because impeachment proceedings would be a distraction from passing Democratic policies that would ensure the party's future political victory.

"We will do more work to make for our own reelection, and maintain a Democratic Congress, and have a Democratic President," she said. "And frankly, for impeachment, George W. Bush is just not worth it. We have great work to do for the American people."

Kucinich also acknowledged that he had not yet discussed his charges with Rep. John Conyers (D-MI), the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, whose committee must consider whether or not to forward the articles on to Congress.

A reporter asked Kucinich why the Vice President should be impeached and not President George W. Bush.

"There is a very practical reason – each and every charge relates to Vice President Cheney's conduct or misconduct in office," he answered. But he added, "It is very important that we start with Mr. Cheney because if we were to start with the President, Mr. Cheney would then become president.

He also noted, "We'd have to go through the constitutional agony of impeaching two presidents consecutively."

The full Articles themselves, a large collection of PDF documents, are accessible at Congressman Kucinich's website.

Oh they'll just have another mass shooting or false flag as a response. They'll hang on to the last blade of grass these reptiles.

They'll never get the 2/3 necessary to convict.

On a side note, I just heard that  Mr. Evil Personified (Cheney)  is right here in my town, even as I type this.  I had no idea he was scheduled to speak here, but he's doing some benefit for our Republican Senator.  He's not 5 miles away.  I can practically feel the evil. *shudder*

Re: Kucinich announces impeachment charges against Vice President Cheney

The smell alone should have alerted you. wink
Both him and his puppet have been in my town too. I can see them being taken to the underground and shown who's going to get ritually sacrificed in their honor.

Some protesters came up with an idea that was kind of cute.  Apparently the dinner guests had paid $250 a head for the privilege of rubbing shoulders with Death.  Protesters stood outside and offered to sell them sandwiches for 250 cents-- baloney sandwiches, of course. smile

No offense, but why?  Not only will it NEVER happen, but even if it did, it would barely scratch the surface (if that) in resolving anything....it's just another distraction and that's all.  In fact, an impeachment of Cheney solves absolutely nothing, since he's just another puppet politician following orders, the lowest on the rung of rulers.

The first clue about this whole sham would be the very person pursuing it -- Dennis Kucinich.  Kucinich is a NWO pawn extraordinaire, a left gatekeeper who praises the United Nations at every turn, and who just recently introduced legislation in Congress that will completely ban the purchase, sale, transfer, or possession of handguns by civilians.  If that's not a dead giveaway as to who controls Kucinich I don't know what is.

How cunning of the NWO elites to have one of their pawns, a leading figure of the controlled opposition, institute impeachment proceedings against the "villainous" Cheney, while simultaneously trumpeting legislation that works to effectively disarm the American population (a major goal) right after one of their triggers murders 32 college students.

No, Kucinich's role is to serve as one of the many "steam vents" out there to distract and lead many of those who question the outright lies spoon fed them by TPTB down the wrong "rabbit hole." This proceeding is a prime example of how he's doing just that, along with his "pretend concern" and posturing concerning the lies surrounding 9/11.

Classic shill.

We forget because they are so good at what they do that the are all on one side the elite side. Taking corrupt leaders down to replace them with exact copies which we eventually go hey you are bad too! This game is as old as time I think.

Re: Kucinich announces impeachment charges against Vice President Cheney

I realize that it would do no good in and of itself... BUT I feel that having the public have their eyes opened in this one regard would spill over to other things.   So, for example, Cheney and the Chimp are impeached.  People really start paying attention, and for once they at least FEEL that their voice counted for something, that they have hope.  While it may be meant as a distraction, it could wind up being just the opposite.  The forces of good have a way of hijacking the machinations of the dark side, IMHO, and this would be a perfect opening.

The Pendelum swings.....As a recovering political junkie , I now watch 'the turn of the screw' much like one might watch a compelling chess match. The handoff of the House to the Dems in November last year was the initial counterswing. The  GOP scandals now surface hourly. This was a group whose actions were air tight for years , now it's a sive....Why?.....Ushering in Hillary.
Dennis Kucinich last Thursday retracted the impeachment effort against Cheney due to his poor health??????....Dick 'Who's got the defilbulator" Cheney hasn't been healthy for years. Hillary and Pelosi, under the close council of Dem. Party head Emanuel {former Israeli soldier}, are the soft sell of the same program. A Hillary/Obama White House will satiate far too many women and minorities with the false sense of winning out.
