Just rewatched this thought it expressed much of what is discussed on this forum. I'm posting the last part it has the most in it. Enjoy.

Re: The Dark Crystal

That last part never fails to make me cry wink. I can't believe how spiritually deep that movie was. I loved it as a little girl, but it also scared me. Its funny how they [used to?] make such spiritually relevant stuff for kids and we understood it on a subconscious level even while having fun. Quite a few 80's kids movies were like that. Labryinth and Neverending story as well. My mom took me to see E.T. when I was 4 yrs old. She says I stood throughout the whole movie looking over the back of the seat in front of me with my mouth open, completely entranced. I don't even remember it that well. She also says I cried when E.T. was being pursued by the government !

Just lucky to be alive at the same time Jim Henson was really. He was such a genius understood how things really are and should be.
