Re: Another stick in the spokes for Internet Radio

The more they attempt to shut us down the more ways we will find to talk to each other and relay information. The more they try to restrict the internet the more they show off that they know something they created to distract us is something that some people are using to make themselves more aware.

Re: Another stick in the spokes for Internet Radio

I agree belljar, with what you said, any attempt to squelch us (appying to the internet in general) will only force us to find other 'channels'.

But this is not so much about freedom restriction as it is good old-fashioned greed. It amazes me that these record execs walk around dripping wealth, yet somehow they get sympathy every time they start crying poverty.

Yes, maybe their sales have fallen off with the filesharing- maybe if they had kept up with the evolution of the web, and such, we would not be paying the price for their stupidity. This is another too-little-too-late on their part, so let's see how we can pass the buck..... OH! I know, we can blame it on those PIRATES!  YAAAAAR we come for free music and we won't be payin ya' stimy royalties either, see?

I remember in the 80's (yes, showing my age again, sigh) going to the 'record' store, which was actually a tape store and looking at album covers, and band names to decide what to buy.

"Hmm is this one gonna suck? .... guess I'll find out after I've bought it huh?"

Yeah- if it turned out to be crap, it went in the 'listened once' pile, if you were lucky you could pass it off on someone, usually it became an expensive blank tape for other uses.

I'm not going back to that, thank you very much, and no, terrestrial radio is not an option either- it sucks so much worse than it did years ago. BAH!

I've bought much more music since having the internet, not less. Maybe I am the minority, but if I like an artist enough, I will support them. I have no problem with that.

But yeah I guess Mr. Virgin Records has to have a few more bucks so he can buy that new hot air balloon and circumnavigate the globe.......again.

.... Helps so much when we have a rich-corpo-bootlicking congress, ya know?

Re: Another stick in the spokes for Internet Radio

The July 15th "deadline" has come and gone, many smaller sites have closed in anticipation of being forced to shut down, but many have stayed on, which is good news.

Here's the latest info:

And I may have found the best damn thing since sliced mp3s- tag radio.

Artist profiles, "similar artist" groupings
for any artist you enter. My absolute new favorite!                                                J
