Here is a brief quote from an article:

Factory farming techniques, most commonly used with pigs and chicken, often involve keeping animals confined in cramped conditions.

However, GM scientists are actively investigating ways to remove the stress and aggression gene from animals, effectively turning them into complacent zombies.

The professor said it might become technically possible to produce "animal vegetables" - beasts which are "highly prolific and oblivious to their physical and mental status".

Oh, that's nauseating.  Just imagine how much better a human vegetable would be, say, at Gitmo.  However, I think the tormentors enjoy their work way too much for that.  I can see a worker who never leaves their cubicle though.  That would serve the masters well. yikes

I'm sure that almighty chip they want to get into everbody will do the trick. You've got places like the USA and Japan where people don't sleep more than 5 hours a night. This is their idea of heaven a totally dead world they can control by a push of a button. It's probably 90% there already.
