Visionary painter Alex Grey narrates this cinematic journey through the New York space that houses his Sacred Mirrors series of images, each of which presents a life-size figure facing viewers to evoke a mirror image. Combining stunning cinematography with stirring music, director Nick Krasnic captures the power of the anatomical depictions and transcendental imagery that together reflect the sum of the human experience.

That description really doesn't begin to touch the incredible nature of this experience.  A must see for all who believe there's more to being human than meets the eye. wink

Yeah his artwork is phenomenal.  Wouldn't mind seeing this when the opportunity arises.

Here is one of his presentations called world spirit.

Re: Alex Grey: The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors: CoSM: the Movie

I was on holidays last October, to a sleeply little seaside town in South Australia and found 3 of his books - the owner is a hugh fan of his work - as am I smile

Visiting The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors is on my list of things to do one day.

It's a truly amazing place, Zsuzsi.  At least it seemed so from the video.

Thanks for posting this! I've been trying to remember the name of this artist for ages. I saw a picture book of his work a few years back. Couldn't get the images out of my mind. They are incredible. smile

Then you must see the Cosm movie, Iriana, because Grey talks about where the images come from and what all the elements of his paintings mean.  He also talks about one of his wife's paintings, and she's awesome as well.  The intricacy of the paintings is amazing, and the Chapel is so much more than a gallery as you will see from the movie.

Will do! Also going to check out the Google video. smile

Re: Alex Grey: The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors: CoSM: the Movie

I really like his art, but refuse to do anything that might in any way financially support one who seems to see so deeply, yet is so fearful and lost in ego as to cling to the disgusting idea of copyright so forcefully.  One who sees as deeply as him should recognize that the visionary work flows through, not from him.  Especially when he is obviously so wealthy, why such hateful proprietary behavior that causes him to even prevent people from using his artwork in totally non-commercial ways (such as on your desktop) without paying him?

Jerk off.

Re: Alex Grey: The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors: CoSM: the Movie

I watched his  WORLD SPIRIT video on youtube....i couldn't stop laughing at the "KILLER VAGINA" part and his graphic words that went along so well with his spiritual art.  The video seemed like it was a recording of a cult seminar.  I couldn't take him seriously the way he reads his poetry.   It was creepy.  Also something about him just doesn't seem right...I feel like he's a host to an alien.  That's the first thing I thought when I saw him in his New Age robe.  Too much EGO.

I watched  the COSM movie today also.  He has great art, but the documentary of his work was boring.  I fell asleep and woke up at the ending credits....
