I thought this was quite a cool article:

As a psychotherapist it has been my observation, for some time now, that much in the New Age is psychologically dysfunctional. I had an engineer friend who referred to these New Age "truisms" as NABS, or New Age Bullshit. They are like those little snacks you eat at cocktail parties. They fill you up for a bit, and give the illusion of nutrition, but they are empty calories.

I think that one of the NABS currently in vogue is the notion that one should let down one's guard and be fully and completely open. As a therapist I think this idea is potentially dangerous and here's why..."

Re: NABS

Great article, and I'm still reading it.  One thing that always comes to mind for me is that I do trust people absolutely-- I trust them to be who and what they are.  My job is to find out what that is and make decisions accordingly.  I don't see this as being defensive at all.  It's just common sense for us timeless energy beings bound in the bodies of mammals.

Re: NABS

Love and Light !!! Love and LIGHT !!! I close my eyes and chant, "I am a success" until your hostile attack on the TRUTH fades into a distant memory.

wink Just joking, I quite agree with the message in this article, about how it's important to set boundary's and see things for what they are. The other NABS thing of not wanting to make a judgment call or doing anything that might be perceived as "negative", is really damaging. Because if you don't feel able to challenge and confront people when they violate your personal boundaries then you're really in trouble.

Here's another NABS:
"You Create Your Own Reality." The kernel of truth in this meme is, We have responsibility for our own emotional states, and can be more at peace by living in the present moment instead of projecting expectations onto future situations. But everything that happens to you is all about you, feels just like teenage thinking to me.
