Monument to the Planet Suffers a Hard Fall to Earth
Just three months old, the $1 million globe, made of 88 chunks of Brazilian quartzite and adorned with raised bronze signifying land masses, lies disintegrated at the university, in Kennesaw, Ga., outside a new academic building praised for its eco-friendly attributes. A bronze statue of David Brower, a conservationist who was the first executive director of the Sierra Club, had stood atop the 15-foot globe and is now partly crushed. A steel time capsule intended to be opened in 3006 is exposed amid the rubble.

That last picture with the poor sculpture guy reaching for help... that's funny, ironic, tragic, and foreshadowy.

It is humorous and perhaps fitting.

But for 1 million dollars wouldn't it be nice if they had of used that money to help hundreds of needy people?  All they have now for their million is a pile of rubble and a trapped 'sculpture guy'...

The art still looks good, even in its earth hugging form. 

The artist can salvage the piece if he reshapes his vision.  The statue of David Brower is literally reaching out from under the blocks toward the artist...perfect.

Maybe the art had the insight to form itself to its highest and best.
