A Book Excerpt from The Ascension Primer:
"Am I In Heaven?My mother and I frequently have conversations about anything and everything. One day I was telling her that I had just discovered that absolutely everything comes from within, including the angels and our loving spiritual guides.
They are simply aspects of ourselves that we believe in and therefore they exist.
As mentioned earlier, we create them so we won't be alone. We want to feel better knowing that somewhere out there, there exists something that knows more than we do and knows that all is well, even if we don't know ourselves. We place them outside of us because we cannot imagine that we are, in fact, this wonderful and wise ourselves. She agreed that everything comes from within, but was not too happy thinking that perhaps nothing exists except what we believe and that we are making everything up. She said she felt much better believing in a reality that consisted of loving and comforting angel companions and perhaps sitting on billowing white clouds in heaven.
And this is the truth about the higher realms. Although we may be surprised about what a higher being looks and feels like as we begin morphing into one, we can always create our own heaven. If all is really an illusion and we can make it up, why not make up the perfect heaven of your dreams?"

A bit outdated - Neville Goddard from the 50's - but even then he was on track with his theory that the imagination is the basis of everything.
