Topic: Sorry But.....

I loath Christmas music, or what passes for it in this age
The endless permutations of pop singers going into the studio to create ever more nauseating variations on the songs that make me want to heave, because they must not have anything better to do than sport their egos' by runnings already bad songs into the ground one more time and with ever sickening modes of vocal inflection and wild gyrations away from the original melodic lines which were bad to begin with. Its worse than holiday television shows.

I was getting blasted at the Coffee shop and I was relieved when the counter boy put on Beck instead.

We need novelty.....

What if you went into a cafe and they had some original and creative music playing that you had never heard before? The kind you hear on the internet stations that offer something that is not time worn....

God, you likely would not be on planet Earth

Re: Sorry But.....

Okay.....am I the only one who notices that nearly all of your posts grump and complain about everything that's wrong in the world?  You're like the unofficial Noble Realms Curdmudgeon or something.   !  Just sayin'.......

Hey, every adventuring group needs a grumpy dwarf! it's a balance thing.

I'm not into todays xmas music either. Classic choirs and carols for some reason I like...

HAHAHA! Genius! lol Imagining StarCat as a grumpy dwarf... I love StarCat's posts, maybe sometimes grumpy but always VALID!

Was having the same conversation last night, after going into the local supermarket which has now switched over to the 24/7 XMASMEGAMIX station or something. I also think the Little Drummer Boy is one of the most inane songs every written. Haha, I was even talking about how idiotic the 12 Days Of Christmas song was a few days ago, because I was remembering the old John Denver & The Muppets rendition that I used to listen to every christmas with my family... and it just goes on forever, and its just a friggin' list broken into 12 verses, it doesn't even rhyme! "Fiiiiiiive gooooold rrrrrings!! Buhdumdumdum!" smile

Haha, yeah, me too, I don't mind the classic choirs and carols at all.

And I'm in agreement here with thr33tim3:

Amen to that!  big_smile   I thought that even back when I was really little, like 4 or 5 years old.  "What a stupid song!"   A rum pum pum pum....me and my drum...pum pum pum.....

Dumb dumb dumb is more like it!  haha   Obnoxious.

Now, as far as the 12 days of Christmas song is concerned....more dumbness.....so that's why you have to check out the song called "The 12 Pains of Christmas."  Totally hilarious classic guaranteed to make you laugh or at least smile.   I'll upload it later when I get home.

Re: Sorry But.....

By the way, nothing meant by the "grumpy dwarf" comment, except that good groups have varieties of POV to obtain a more complete synthesis.

Re: Sorry But.....

Lyra, the only complaining posts I have are in the humor section.
I think I have put a few out about the windows OS. All the rest are serious discussion of metaphysics.
Not complaints. Far from it.

Re: Sorry But.....

Yesterday on the local classic rock radio station they were talking about Christmas carols and the worst music.  A woman calls in and says she works for a doctor and he'd made a CD of him playing Christmas music on trumpet, and he gave these CD's out to his patients.  So they play The Little Drummer Boy from his CD. yikes I wouldn't have recognized it if they hadn't said that's what it was.  Worst crap I've ever heard.  She said he thinks he plays beautifully. roll  I tried to find the clip on the radio site, but no luck.  You'll just have to use your imagination.

Re: Sorry But.....

How about this one?

"Its the holiday season (holiday season)
so whoop-de-doo
and dickory dock
and don't forget to hang up your sock
cuz he'll be comin' down the chimney (comin' down the chimney!)
comin' down the chimney, down!"

I get that one stuck in my head for days at a time... smile And see! When I was searching for the name of the song, I found a whole other website where bad xmas songs were being discussed!

http://the-isb.blogspot.com/2005/12/chr … -song.html
I think an agreement has been reached that secular songs are way more annoying than religous ones. Also that Frank Sinatra song "The holiday season". The one with the lyrics.
I worked in Sears for a few years and they played this song 15 times a day for 3 months. The other employees and myself came very close to fullfilling a murder suicide pact.

Re: Sorry But.....

That one's hilarious!  I have a couple of Bob Rivers' Christmas CD's.  His lyrics crack me up!  You just can't go wrong with songs like "Wreck the Malls" or "Chipmunks Roasting over an Open Fire". lol
