Re: Aspartame it just gets worse

Its amazing that, at many of the "get togethers" I go to, people will make desserts and such with aspertame  (sugar-free) products, and not tell you, thinking they are doing you a favor. My 3 kids and I have never been able to eat or drink anything with that stuff in it. It feels like our tongue is swelling when we do.  I have a sweetener that I buy that is made from mung bean leaves.  You can also bake with it. But I would never ever use it without TELLING somebody that is wasnt regular cane sugar.

I've noticed that it's almost impossible to buy gum that doesn't have aspartame now.  While I don't want to be paranoid, it seems to be that there is almost a conspiracy to convert as many products to contain aspartame as possible.  I remember a time when you could buy the conventional big brand gums and they hadn't yet been affected by this trend. Ahh the glory days of relatively safe gum chewing!

Fortunately, I've seen an increase in the gum brands that use xylitol instead.

Re: Aspartame it just gets worse

it's sad really, i tried to convince my parents that thier diet of diet soda hmm  was probably causing some of the discomforts they had. Headaches and other things. Yet they refuse to have an open mind about it, won't look an any material that isn't funded by nutrasweet.  I went so far as to use their 2 litres as archery tagets. Frustrating, when your parents will not listen to you.

Good thing that i only drink water that comes from a spring on a nearby mountain.

NutraSweet, the great-tasting, low-calorie artificial sugar substitute sweetener made with aspartame.

Here's a little more info on the poison Splenda.

Re: Aspartame it just gets worse

I've been trying to help educate my parents, one of which has been recently diagnosed as diabetic and the other as pre-disposed.  The dietary nurse at the hospital told them that they should use Splenda and now my stepmom is ordering splenda cookbooks and all over it.  I've talked to them about it and sent them tonnes of info but it just doesn't sink in...makes me sad...but i guess i'll just keep at it, hopefully they'll see it one day

Tell me about it roll My old man insists on chomping his way through aspartame-riddled chewing gum despite having read articles about how bad it is for him, along with me encouraging him to quit.
