I couldn't help but take a look at the correlation between 9/11 and its counterpart in 1865.

I think it's all very repetitive as in cycles.  Things look a bit different but a yet terribly similar.  Like this cycle it's the US who is the bad guy just as Germany was the bad guy back then.  And the US is looking a lot like the Roman Empire, too.  I don't think time is linear at all.

I'm in the process of scanning all the headlines in the NY Times from 20 Sep 31 to 21 Dec 31.  There are almost 43K of them and I've got through the first 2K so far.  I am looking for major world events, economic indicators, tech/science news, deaths of famous people, strange/quirky stories, and anything my intuition jumps out at.  Out of the 2K I've scanned, I've made notes on 50 headlines. . . that puts me on track for about 1000 headlines.

The next step is to scan news from this week that bears a direct causal connection, or just an uncanny similarity to the headlines I preselected.

So I put up an online calculator to calculate the old date corresponding to a more recent one, and vice versa.

Because time of day is not figured into this, calculating the older date leaves a large window of approximation. A one day wiggle room for a newer date equals thirteen days for the older date. So it's better to input the older date to calculate the new, otherwise just remember that the older date is approximate within 13 days.

I find this area of inquiry very interesting.  In the book "The Invisible Landscape" (1975), Terence McKenna proposed something similar with regard to the fractal nature of time.  Also, Carl Calleman, in his book, "The Mayan Calendar and the Transformation of Consciousness" (2004) elaborated a similar model. 

Daniel Pinchbeck, in his book "2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl" (2006) summarized the Calleman model and Pinchbeck has been referring to it in his public speaking.

So these ideas are available for people who are interested in them.

According to the Calleman model, which is based on his interpretation of the Mayan calendar, there are alternating periods of "day" and "night."  In this model, the “Fifth Night"  is approaching and corresponds to the period Nov. 19, 2007 to Nov. 13, 2008, which corresponds to the previous period 1932-1952 (Great Depression, World War II), which corresponds to the previous period of approximately 400A.D. to 800A.D. when there was a “temporary return to a tribelike world of nomadic Huns and marauding Germanic tribes."

Now his specific timeline may be off, but the theory is that in the next year or two, we are going to see some major events unfold which echo the World II/Nazi era.  Of course, one could claim that we are already seeing this now.  I feel that we may be entering a period of intensification of totalitarian tendencies, but these will not last.  These models suggest a hopeful outlook in that the worst of it may only last a year or so (and maybe even less). 

Whatever the specifics, the models suggest an acceleration of change.  For several years, I have been thinking that if we are going to see the type of change that some people say will happen by the general 2012 period, a major global consciousness shift, then it is likely that in the current period, we will increasingly live through major changes.  The type of changes where it will be clear to almost everyone that we are living through momentous times and the “business and life as usual"  period is over.  I don’t think we are quite there yet.
