Topic: "The Best"

A friend emailed me today and said I was "the best".  The best what?  I am open to the best life I can experience--with ups and downs to teach me. I never know whether something good will go bad, or whether something bad will turn into good--it all seems to teach on this journey.

I'd like to share this response with the group.

"The Best"

"The best" what?

There is an old goat wandering down on the field at the Nortre Dame Homecoming Game; a game rich in legacy and pageantry. This goat dons a scruffy coat and a scraggly beard--attracting little attention to himself.  A blonde woman up in the press box has noticed this peculiar creature and is watching him as he slowly works his way from one end of the field to the other. He goes unnoticed by almost every other fan as he avoids drawing attention to himself while he steadfastly works his way towards the prized end zone( the grass is much greener there). Some fans are curious but have not put two and two together yet. This goat is NOT the mascot for either team; he simply enjoys eating the ripe grass clippings that have wedged themselves into the natural turf.  Once the game is over, and the activity surrounding game day has passed, it would become quite obvious to anyone in the know that this old goat was not authorized, nor  properly credentialed to attend an event of this level of social acclaim. He smiles an audacious grin as he keeps the grounds perfectly manicured, knowing that his place under the sun is unchallenged and unappreciated by the bustling mass of over-achievers in the stands. The blonde one is fascinated by the oddity of the situation; and cheers him on knowing that no one relishes sunshine and green clover like a goat.
