Re: The Shoe and Boot Crisis

Hello, all!

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law

Problems getting good shoes : "Prophecy" of the Beast

Form "the Confessions of Aleister Crowley" chap. 83:

"Such was one of the innumerable similar symptoms of the foul disease which is ravaging the United States, and has already destroyed almost every vestige of the political, religious and individual liberty which was the very essence of the original American idea.

My spirit sank under the contemplation of the irremediable calamity which threatens to engulf the whole of humanity since it is now an accepted principle of business to endeavour to make tyranny international, to suppress all customs of historical interest, and indeed everything which lends variety or distraction to human society in the interest of making a market for standardized products. The moral excuse for these activities is miserably thin, for the element which it is most important to suppress is originality as such, even when the question concerns the very idea of craftsmanship in itself.

The idea at the back of puritanism is the reduction of the mass of humanity to a degree of slavery which has never previously been so much as contemplated by the most malignant tyrants in history; for it aims at completing the helplessness of the workman by minimizing his capacity. He must no more be permitted to exercise the creative craftsmanship involved in making a pair of boots; he must be rendered unable to do more than repeat mechanically, year in, year out, one meaningless item in the manufacture, so that when the pinch comes it shall be impossible for anyone to have boots at all except through the complex industrial conspiracy of the trusts.

This idea, consciously or subconsciously, lies underneath all attempts to extend "civilization". The progress of this pestilence is only too visible all over the world. Standardized hotels and standardized merchandise have invaded the remotest districts, and these would be economically impossible unless supported by the forcible suppression of local competition. When, therefore, we find the newspapers indignant at Mohammedan morality, we may suspect the real trouble is that American hatters see no hope of disposing of their surplus stock, as long as the wicked Oriental sticks to his turban or tarbush.

The exquisite, dignified and comfortable clothes of remote people, from Sicily to Japan, must give way to the vile shoddy products of foreign factories, and the motive is supplied by a worldwide campaign on behalf of social snobbery. The people are persuaded that they ought to try to look like a sporting duke or a bank president. Such plans obviously depend on the destruction of everything that makes for originality, self-respect, the love of beauty or the reverence for history."

Sounds almost like a "no global" sentiment, actually. Very avant-garde for the '20's.

Just goes to show how evident the trend has been and for how long.

Re: The Shoe and Boot Crisis

SiriArc--CA is just short for Cosmic Awareness.  as in, channeled (altho he calls it "interpreted") by a Paul Shockley.

i call "it"==them, him, it

CA is just its initials, used by me just to cut down on verbage and my screwed typing skills.  it is a funny wise "awareness"--it has a terrific sense of humor, it loves history and viewed apparently from such a vantage point (off-world, innner/inter-dimensional and so on) it has good info.  i see alot of humnaness in it, it writes well too, keeps ur attention. it always says--"we dont care if u believe it us or not, we r here to tell u what we see and know and that does not require ur ok/belief to do so"....u know... or along those lines anyway.  it talks of rebels, thru out history, all the time and the passion for rebelling and it STRONGLY advises great discernment, all the time.  it is very specific on that.  if it lived next door--id be having coffee with it every AM.

one of the first times i came across it was in 1995 or 96 and i was struck most of all with its cut to the chase personal sorta wise-crackey responses.  it sometimes puts info out there in a "well, ur asking me so im tellin ya"  kinda way.  it, like many, once again, says its a collective of consciousness thing.  i simply like its "personality" and would hang out with it if i could.  as a matter of fact--i could into what its doing for a living (haha) when i pass over so id sound all wise and knowing to the ?next group on ole mamma earth that dialed me up for info in the next 1000 yrs.  one purpose i have in cutting and pasting it into our topics lately is so others will loook "it" up and read it all, or whatever they resonate with.  just another source and i think, a cute one that sums things up rather contritely.  somebody else on here likes lazaris too and i did alot some time ago, when i could get it free and it was very down to earthy too, at one time.

i even read kryon, hell, i read everybody, i even liked kireal for awhile too.

i have to say this too.  i have taken care of psych pts for over 35 years professionally, and i must say, that many times (and this was told to me by a terrific therapist so i didnt make it up myself) when we were talking about what to do in general for the humans in pain in our care, when they were looking for ANSWERS, as to why things r like they are, from within their human pain, asking why, why, why, and all, all that comes from human dilemmas on earth--she told me "why go to a shrink/counselor, when u can go to a damn good psychic?"  she herself, always went to her favorite psychic, Rose, when she had "trouble." i have told some of my patients that--go find out who u were, who is in ur life that u knew before, do work on urself from all angles.

i have always loved that.  we ran quite a few hospitals together and she always cracked me up. both of us are fringe anyway.  its info from another source, thats all im saying, a source that can see more than i can from my singular point of view.  just staying open. and, even encouraging the sick to do so.

Zenden, it's about laughing... not anger, not totalitarian righteousness in the name of good, but laughter... transcendence through laughter. smile

I don't know that I've ever seen such an apt and fitting quote posted to a message board before.  It even cites shoddy boots as an indication.  Bravo, Zejith.  And to think Crowley was saying this in 1920.  Whatever people may say about him, he must have been a visionary.

Re: The Shoe and Boot Crisis

Trans--what? i i ususally dont post back retorts, but where did u get anger out of that above? from that other post wherein i admitted im angry?  damn sure am and not ashamed of it.  if more ppl were and said so and felt their feelings and STOOD THE f*ck UP for what they believed in, and said so without feeling like they were risking, well, then...which is why there r so many pods.  theyre afraid to take risks.  but, in regards to the immediately above post tho-- i thot it was pretty funny myself. seeing a psychic instead of a psychiatrist.  i dont think u get that part.  am i missing something?  what's what about? as in its all about laughter?  ur telling me that? i thot all that was really funny. one can laugh quite heartily and still be very very angry.  the funniest stuff in the world comes from REALISTS who r cynics, who see things extraordinarily clearly.  so u think im totalitarianly righteous.  i never liked nor subscribed to the totalitarians, nor the petty tyrants.  to be clearer, i grew up in the 60's (and there's no need to mention the 70's, the 80's, and even the early to the middle 90's) so u'd need to have had more transcendental experiences  than i did, and i dont think thats possible.  and its not the years, my friend, its the MILES. so yep--NOW that _IS_  RIGHTEOUS.  wont defend what i say or cite references here.  i already said im willing to get in a fight about a kleenex.  i dont like getting ripped off and i say so, so call me what u want.

Re: The Shoe and Boot Crisis

I was responding to your original post in this thread, and your general tone in this thread... if you are willing to pick a fight over the quality of a klenex out of *anger*, then I *do* think you need to learn to laugh about your problems more, for they are not *your* problems essentially, are they? I understand what you're saying about pods waking up through anger, but I think it's more a matter of awareness... they aren't angry because they aren't fully consciously aware of the state of things around them. Upon such awareness/realization, any number of emotions may arise... and I don't think anger is the healthiest.. sometimes it does arise, it's true, and that is only healthy... but to be healthy in the midst of anger is to recognize it, acknowledge it, and let it pass, just like any other emotion. Don't dismiss it, but don't overdo it, either. Anger doesn't solve anything in the long run.

Re: The Shoe and Boot Crisis

Empath, I always thought spike heel shoes were silly and still do not understand why any female would subject herself to such " torture devices " as you put it. Same thing with neck ties. They literally are about the most stupid custom imaginable.
Montalk I call it the evaporation of everything. Its as you have noted a type of squeezing effect.
There is a force which has been working this thru willing pawns within the system. Yet there are still a few on the fringes who know what quality is about.
Socks, even high dollar ones, seem to last about 3 months on average before developing holes. Piss poor.
Any shoes that have that injection molded looking sole, which is most of them nowadays, I avoid.
I want something that is properly stiched down and intelligently constructed.

Re: The Shoe and Boot Crisis

I have found that Red Wing boots are made very well. They last over a year with heavy use. I don't know if they are all steel toe or not but the pair I have are. They can be expensive but they are well worth the money. They stay water proof and if you take care of them the leather won't crack. They have thick rubber soles that are stitched on and that don't seperate with use.

you would have loved last night's Ray Mears survival program (on UK TV), they (two of them) made a Birch Bark Canoe, it was fascinating to watch the craftsmanship, and Ray was itching to get his tape measure out to get things right, but the old fella just said, 'it will be long enough".

Took them just over 8 days to make, and it will last over a hundred years!
