Topic: A New Old Method of Problem Solving

I was doing a little research on Wikipedia on the 40s for a theme Halloween party coming up and I came across an interesting article on TRIZ, which is an actual theory of solving inventive problems.  Never heard of it till now.

It presents a method of dealing with contradictions which does not resolve a contradiction, but rather dissolves them.  There is also an algorithm of problem solving called ARIZ which is based on this theory.

Not only did I find it interesting as a topic, but also in the fact that I had never even heard of it, especially having a formal degree in philosophy.  But then again, maybe I shouldn't be surprised.  Anyhow, I realized that I generally operate with the assumtion that resolution is the best way to approach to all conflict, contradiction, or duality.  I hadn't really ever considered the fact that there are entirely different approaches to problem solving.

Thought I'd pass it along. . .

It is not for us to understand love, but simply to make space for it.

Thanks t.  That could be a really useful diagnostic tool for building new 2012 communities, in preparation for the breakdown of 'traditional' life support mechanisms.

Alhough KISS solutions would probably be the order of the day. big_smile
