Topic: Babylon 5

I don't know if this is mentioned in the forum before or not but did anyone watch Babylon 5 series? I've just finished 2.season and found that whole idea and the web of events are simply amazing. Especially the episode that we see a Vorlon for the first time. Some great ideas!

I wonder why we didn't hear about this Babylon 5 in Europe ever? I watch it on DVD now and although I've met several Star Trek series on TV (eg. next generation, deep space 9 etc), I've not heard of Babylon 5 before. It was on air between 95-99, I suppose. Really very brain storming series. I'm beginning the 3rd season now and I think more wonders will come from this.

I did not have cable when that show was on, but it was pretty "hot" for awhile. It probably has alot of clues in the plot lines and character structure. Sounds like a fun and interesting approach. There's one called Farscape that more recently ended that I have heard raves about, and hope to check out the reruns. It sounds like some of these could be "Tales from Noble Realms."

I don't own a TV, but I read "Ellie's World" on http://www.crystalinks.com - Ellie Crystal often gives summaries of the sci-fi shows she watches, discussing their esoteric significance. Mostly Stargate SG-1. Science fiction television shows seem to be fertile ground for the exploration and exposure of some deep truths. I used to watch Star Trek Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, which touched upon truths, but apparently in recent years these new breed of sci-fi shows amp it up. At least, they are more frequent that they used to be. In the past we had the old Star Trek Series, and "V" among others... As time goes on and the demand/tolerance for awakening-ideas increase, so will their profusion among popular media.

Any other interesting shows that seem to contain veiled truths?

Babylon 5 was an awesome show and had a great story arc that extended all the way through 5 seasons. Personally I think it's one of the most well written sci-fi tv series' there's ever been. However it must be around 6 or 7 years since it finished and my memories of it are getting to be quite hazy. I do remember most of the main characters quite well.

I don't know about the rest of europe but it certainly had quite a large cult following in England.

I've also heard a lot of great things about Farscape, and I'm sure I would enjoy it,  but I don't think I've got the time or energy to get into it now. I haven't got rid of my TV just yet, but I hardly ever watch it these days.

It's primary purpose now is for watching the occasional DVD. Although I will admit that I've just started watching the new series of Six Feet Under which is one of the few programs I find to be worth watching.

I never liked Babylon 5, but it aired back before I would have been aware of any symbloism whatsoever. Lately, I've been watching Star Trek Voyager (I dunno which season) and there is some HEAVY SYMBOLISM in almost EVERY EPISODE. There was actually one with Nazis. (In a holo-deck program of course)

LOL! Dude, I didn't just watch the show, but I was the forum leader for the official Warner Bros. Babylon 5 forum on America Online. Many of the shows cast and crew visited the chat rooms there and posted on the message boards, including JMS himself as well as Bruce and Melissa on occasion. I was very saddened to hear of the recent death of Richard Biggs, who played Dr. Franklin on the show. He was a wonderful guy. If I had still been living in the LA area, I would have attended the funeral a couple of months back. Anyway, the show did air on channel 4 in the UK. In fact, the UK viewers were the first in the world to see Kosh come out of his encounter suit in the episode where he saves Sheridan (The Fall of Night). I dunno why you didn't see the show when it aired, but it truly is the greatest sci-fi series ever made.

    I used to watch the babylon series in romania 5 or 6 year ago. I even used to cut clases so I won't miss an episode. smile)) If my mom would only know. Any way I also think it's a great show, for me it was a consolation for the "loss" of Star Threk. In my oppinion thast is the greatest show ever. I was adicted to it every week. did you see it? It will bring you more surprises belive me.

hi! at last a neighbour in noble realms smile babylon 5 have not been on air in turkey. several channels showed all star trek series but not babylon 5. i'm watching it on dvd now.

The AOL forums are no longer active anymore. They were taken down shortly after the series ended its run because Warner Bros. didn't want to keep paying AOL a lot of money to host it! But, during its time it was a great place to be. Not sure why they never showed the series in Turkey; very odd. Rick's death was very sad, especially considering how young he was:
