I agree.  To me, organized sports is a cousin of organized religion.  IE: ways to get the people focusing on things that don't empower them.  Or, ways to get the people focused on things that are OUTSIDE of themselves.  Or, flat out ways to get the people to piss their time away and stay pacified.

Sports "heroes" are particularly useful in this regard because they are trendsetters, since they are worshipped by the masses.  So the masses aspire to be like the heroes who've completely sold out to the system.

Guess how many sports teams/organizations are owned by freemasons or illuminists?

When I hear this one I have to chew on something really hard.

My take on the pod folks is that at their core most are weak, afraid and victims of their own habit structure which gets reinforced daily and eventually gets to the point which becomes them.

Essentially they are afraid to be themselves but have a desire to fit in so they adopt personality traits from television characters or various role models or popular people in high school, whatever, all as part of a survival mechanism. Eventually this becomes a way of life and an ongoing process and is reinforced by others doing the same thing and the adventurous of the bunch become the first to adopt a new trend (buy an ipod) or  be the first in the office to use a  catch phrase (probably heard on TV). When confronted with something outside their norm, they simply do not know how to react because they have not seen it on TV and do not know what is appropriate. At that point they do not even consider their own feelings or thoughts they are just scanning their knowledge base for proper reactions.

They're not bad people (not that anyone is saying they are), they are just weak and do not know better. In order to really reach them you need to get to a level of trust at  the point in them at which they were first forming their personalities and is not easy but can be done if you care about them. Probably not worth it for casual office acquaintances, better just to be the weirdo and let them figure it out for themselves.

what a great thread.  im cracking up all over the place.  we r NOT pod thats for sure, thats why i look bizarre.  so i dont  present as pod, on purpose.  am really old, have dreadlocks, piercings but not brows etc,. just ears, had for over 35 yrs, tatoos, swear alot, say what i think.  dont look like anybody in my world, i scare ppl i guess.

used to get me in a lot of trouble, probably, but not as much, anymore, dont care.  since i  only work when and where i want, and how i want, and that aint much--all straight up TEMP and ONLY temp--right on lyra, lono, everybody who wont play the game, its the only way to win, dont play), i have been accused of, well more than anything by the PODs --is--get this---- saying "f*ck"  which really pisses them off more than anything.   they get real riled on that word, its all theyve got in taht world.  im famous for it and have actually saved so many hospitals from bankruptcy, close down, regulatory havoc, etc etc, in the old days, only to be called in to corporate headquarters by the pods, in the old days to defend, that i really did say f*ck.  yep. that gets em real bad.  i said it, in the middle of battle, in the middle of warzones so to speak, yep, i said it, and when i did, it was tasteful. i would then have to admit it, over and over as they looked at me horrified. while these same ppl were ripping off all the state funding agencies, the feds, everybody. but i said F---==oh my god, the world must end.  she must be hung, crucify her.   yesiree==they go crazy on it.

what kills me is that a guy in an elevator said it to me the other day and cringed and got all freaked out and was so afraid i fathom, that i, of all ppl was going to report him to the pods or something.    so i go-- no man, dont worry, talk REAL--its cool, ur not a pod apparently, say what u think, its alright.  and i added==do i look like im one of them or somethin?  u can be real.  so he looked me over, kinda freaked, completely changed the subject, and i felt really bad the rest of the day.  oh well--i guess i scared him, too good or weird to be true maybe?  that word is a leveling word in my book, and what was once a vice is now a habit. oh well.  the pods go nuts, its an identifier--good and bad.  apparently. ive tried to reign it in over the yrs.  sometimes it separates them from us, but not always.  its like code in a straight or corp world.  i thought at one time.  maybe not anymore.  its just well--so darn VERSATILE.

geeeezz  TP.  its really somethin aint it?  human touch does distinquish.  ur a good guy.  thats why i wish we could all meet up, and didnt we talk of that one time?  a conference thing?  u'd know it was me now and i'd be looking for u, and lono, and lipstick, and lyra, and meet montalk finally, in person, check out visavis and feritciva (shed come a long way!) and wandering, and dreamosis, and weopposedeception, and our newer ppl, and siriarc, and oh man--treehugger, and toad, and titmouse and stephen m. i do not want to leave anybody out but id LOVE it.  a totally non-pod party.  how fun and cool.  we should look into this before travelling gets any further WEIRDER--as perpetuated by THE, well, ill be damned      P   O   D   S.

But right now I'm just thankful that we've connected on this VERY important subject.
It does get lonely, you know, surrounded by pods, extras, breeders and cannon fodder.
