Topic: Wondering What You Guys Think of 18 Wheelers on the Road.

I was curious about what you guys think about the 18 wheelers on the roads. I didn't find any topics about it so I thought I'd ask.

He's just f*cking with us, imo.   Reminds me of former NR poster MoralMan, who'd ask us stuff like, "What do you think is going to happen to the WWF (world wrestling federation) after 2012??"

No I'm not messing with you and I've never heard of MoralMan. I was just wondering if you guys knew about what they do out here and what they have to put up with. I live in one and it has shown me alot more than scenery. I didn't mean to be confusing.

To answer your first question if trucks were to park and refuse to move for lets say one week then everything would come to stand still. The stores would run out of everything, the gas stations would run out of gas, and construction would stop. The reason is because trucks and the people that drive them move everything in the US.

To answer your second question the drivers are forced to keep a log book that tell you when you are and are not allowed to drive. They have to drive anywhere from 500 to 800 miles a day and sometimes more then that to get the load there on time. Just because people "just have to have there stuff NOW". And there's not enough space to answer your third question.

It is interesting food for thought to consider what would happen should the trucks park themselves and not go.  This entire country relies not only on the trucks, but the trains and cargo ships.  Most of what we use nowadays is being imported in from other countries.   Things will get ugly very quickly should transportation of all types grind to a halt.

And then what?  Because your next sentence mentions how much they have to drive, but doesn't connect to the two ideas together.   What's the deal with the log book and the areas they are and aren't allowed to drive?  What does that mean?   Are you hinting about clandestine happenings of some sort?  If so, it sounds interesting.   More details would be nice.

The reason that there's not enough space is because I only have internet access on my phone and it only allows you to type so much. About the log book, the D.O.T. (Department of Transportation), says that you are only allowed to drive for 11 hours in a 24 hour period and if you drive for a company and are not an owner operator you still have to drive that far....

If you don't get the load there on time you can be fired very quick if happens more than a couple times. Some of the things it has shown me is how oblivious people can be (both in their cars and out), how far the government will reach into your life if you let them, and how blindly alot of people accept what the government says about anything.

i'm not following where you are headed with all of this- do you want to tell peeps here something?  like most matters of society, people take 18 wheelers and the drivers that deliver the goods - for granted.  people hate dealing with the trucks on the road and ofcourse most folks tend not to think about the long hrs and trouble it takes to get the goods that we despense of daily.

I was trying to see if anyone here had anything they wanted to talk about in regards to trucks and the bigger picture. It is something I deal with every day and was just trying to see if anyone had anything to share/add. I didn't mean to try and make anyone feel bad, come off aggresive, or be confusing.
