And addressing Abraham's circumcision....
As you've said you're Christian, I'm pretty sure you will disagree, with what I am about to say, which is well within your right, as it is within my right to give my opinion now.
The first five books of the Torah were traditionally written by Moses himself. For the sake of argument, I will assume that this tradition is accurate. So Moses is the one writing the creation story, the story of Abraham, Joseph and his coat of many colors, etc. But lets look at the timeline. Abraham has his kids. Joseph goes to Egypt. Joseph helps Egypt with the drought/famine. Joseph brings his family, including Abraham into Egypt.
A great deal of time passes, to such an extent that the Hebrews (descendents of Abraham) are now slaves instead of honored guests. Enter Moses. Moses gets the Hebrews out of Egypt, goes up on a mountain and starts writing a bunch of stuff that is eventually compiled as the Tanakh. Now did Moses make it up, was he talking to "God" or simply channeling some random discarnate entity? Using montalk's standards of channeling as a guide, I'm willing to say that he either made it up or was channeling some lower entity.
Needless to say, this documentation is inadequate in my mind, which is why I said what I did.
And this is assuming that the tradition of the Tanakh being written by Moses is accurate. That has been in despute by "scholars" for decades, and it was only in the past few years that "evidence" was "found" that could even grant the possibility that such a thing occured. Circumstances being such, I can't accept "Abrahamic" circumcision.
I'm pretty sure you'll be wrong then(about whether or not I will disagree), because I don't discount it entirely, I just haven't been convinced to accept it.
I wasn't brought up in a "saved" household or a christain family, never attended church except for funerals and weddings. Never gave so much as a thought to God until I was 16. I was into "fantasy adventure" sword and sorcerer books, could tell you everything you wanted to know about the "gods" in those books, and it hit me I knew Jack about my world. I prayed to get to know the Creator or God of this world. I didn't pick up a bible or anything, but within a week or two a stranger started to share about Jesus...hmmm not a buddhist or a taoist or a new agey person, not even Stuie himself(I didn't know about him then). So I'm like okay I'll read.
It wasn't until a few years ago that I even heard about the possibility that Moses channelled/ unleashed the spirit referred to as Lucifer(or possibly some less spirit). I hold it as possible...but nothing convincing enough for me to readjust my inner directions.
To continue with the conspiracy theories, the are some that say the first 5 books weren't actually written by Moses, but 5 different people. Something to do with grammatical structuring use.
Or then there's the one where the "sidebar additions" people are prone to do got incorporated in transcription.
You know what? The more something gets attacked and the more convoluted something is made to be...the more credence I give it. The more indepth I look at both sides.

Abraham, then Isaac, then Jacob(Israel), then Joseph. Abraham dies before Jacob is even born...so no Abraham did not go down into Egypt with Joseph.
Tanakh? I'll have to look that up.
Circumcision was to be an exterior symbol for an interior attitude...do I think it is silly that it was taken outside if the Jews/ Israelites...ABSOLUTELY!!!
Problems with getting judgmental with something to the point that it needs to be stamped out, is that you disempower those this happens to. It also changes your regard to the person that authorizes this. Some may not have had the choice to say no, some may have done it out of ignorance, some may even have "noble intentions" of having their baby be "just like daddy."
Another problem is...there will always be something else to taken its place, the Japanese had/have binding of the feet. There is a tribe in S. America where the father has intercourse with his daughter before she gets married to "teach" her about sex and pleasing a man.
How much of the Bible have you read? Enough to know you don't need to read anymore?
Did you read/ do you continue to read any of the Cass. stuff with it's flaws? How about Marciniak? If having flaws or not is the determining factor to what we read...we probably shouldn't be reading anything.
Okay so you don't like what Moses channelled, what did Christ/ Jesus Channel?
Oddly enough, the Toltec teachings I've read about...are in the bible, so are Buddhist teachings, some of the Taoist teachings (At least some of the ones I can understand - talk about something that'll get you to think/ponder/meditate), some of Stuie Wilde's teachings coincide with the bible. Alot of the foundational principles/ teachings by Eric Pepin (higher balance Institute) can be found in the Bible too.
What are you seeking? Peace, love, I can walk beside you whether you call yourself christian or not. I'll seek to bless you when you come and bless you when you leave. It's the inner stuff, not the Labels to me that count.
