Shaking was felt in parts of Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Cuba and Mexico. The USGS reports:
"This is the largest of more than a dozen shocks that have been instrumentally recorded from the eastern Gulf of Mexico in the past three decades, and it is the most widely felt. The most recent significant earthquake in the region occurred on February 10th, 2006 and had a magnitude of 5.2. We have not associated this earthquake with a specific causative fault."
This is an unusual event because it is far removed from an active plate boundary. This location away from a plate boundary makes this type of earthquake unlikely to produce a tsunami. In addition, earthquakes of 6.0 magnitude are generally considered too weak to yield a tsunami.
According to this article, there was also a 4.4 in Oct. of 2003--

Concerning my notation about ELF waves--
I checked into the Brother Jon's Gazette to check and see if HAARP had been turned on. They reported that so far in Sept. HAARP had been turned on Sept. 7 for 1/2 hr, and on Sept. 8 for 3 hrs.
http://www.brojon.org/frontpage.html
I really don't know how HAARP being turned on two days before the 10th would effect the area (and myself) given the two day later time span...I mean, it seems like the effects would be immediate, but I certainly don't have the knowledge base to discern how ELF waves are supposed to work.
....as well, I'd don't at all believe that HAARP is the only viable source for ELF interference. The only reason I write with confidence that ELF was insturmental going into the 10th, the day of the EQ, is because of the pointedly definitive physical reactions I have to ELF interference, these unlike any other maladic symptoms (the flu, estrogen imbalances) I have ever experienced in my life.
Another interesting note that kind of bolsters my ELF theory is that I was in the grocery store on Mon. and throughout a short confusing conversation with a deli person, she concluded by saying she was sorry for not understanding me, that everybody was having difficulties with communicating with one another, and that everybody was feeling "out of it." I also heard a comment on the news that there had been an unusual "rash of car accidents for the past 24 hrs." in the Tampa Bay area.
Given my symptoms and these notations it sure seems like there was more than just Mother Nature in action on Sunday.
