Bruce,
Pretty scary, thankfully small epidemic going around LA of this strange skin condition. I was a little too uneasy upon reading the article you linked, but I looked Morgellons up on the Wik' and I believe that's pretty much the most information you'll find on the topic, next to Morgellon Research Foundation.
Most Morgellons patients are trying to rally support to get their condition recognized in the clinical/medical field, which until recently they've had no support. Apparently, the Center for Disease Control is launching a formal investigation into the cause and nature of the disease and this year is supposedly the year in which this disease will be officially recognized.
Some doctor believed this condition to exist because of airborne bacteria, which I wouldn't doubt, since it's spreading fast in LA but in other places it is unheard of.
Cheers to good health.
Here is a good article on the subject:

Rense has a collection of Morgellon's related links with info, theories, pictures etc.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I have a sister-in-law in Houston who is a Homeopathic practitioner and she asked me if I had heard about it as researchers in her field are seeking a way to treat it.
I'm pretty sure a lot of disinfo is spreading over the net based on Morgellon's, but someone has claimed to have pinned the source down - a certain Dr. George Schwartz has claimed the disease is caused by a microbe, stenotrophomonas maltophilia, found most commonly in a third of bottled water exported from France.
I don't totally believe him, but this is the theory going around today. Here's a link: http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/medical … wsid=50515
This was also referenced in a letter to Jeff Rense, which you can read on his site - the link is above. Since I don't like Jeff Rense, though, I'm counting on this whole theory to be inaccurate.
If anyone you know comes into contact with Morgellon's I believe the most effective treatment should be a parasite zapper.
Just a thought, but what if Morgellons was related to environmental conditions like heat or humidity as well as other things. It seems strange this condition is related to the warmer tropical zones. Perhaps if those afflicted might try a very conditioned (read whatever is NOT where they are) atmosphere things may change.....just one thing at a time.
Don't find what did it to you, find what kills it...
