montalk, I am unfamiliar with the term Fourth Way, can you briefly define?

And what do you think about Therion's "Enter Vril-ya?

Fourth Way is the esoteric system developed by Gurdjieff and Ouspensky in the early 1900s. It is based on incomplete fragments of Sufi and Esoteric Christianity and aims to bring man from a state of programmed machinery toward living consciousness. Several members here at NR know about Fourth Way through their associations with the Quantum Future Group (formerly the Cassiopaean research group) which has since 2002 incorporated Fourth Way into its ideology. The subject has also come up in various threads. Others read about Gurdjieff and Ouspensky on their own. But I know there are members unfamiliar with the term so thanks for asking. Here is a summary of Fourth Way, and the Wikipedia entry.

Enter Vril-ya summarizes the lore of the Vril Society. So this one's about hollow earth, hidden source of power, nazi technology, becoming supermen, etc... Therion bases songs on various luciferic, occult, mythological themes. Makes for unusual lyrics.

...Agreed. Words stripped of the accompanying music, or 'noise' depending on one's point of view, are just poetry, haiku, whateva.

Alot of music I like has no lyrics.
My favorite jazz has no lyrics.
My favorite electronica also has no lyrics. (Techno/ Trance lovers check di.fm, digitally imported radio). And some of my favorite metal, ditto.  Joe Satriani is one (although he is more blues/hard rock oriented) and he is one of the very best guitarists in the world. Many bands come to mind who have done spectacular instrumentals.

Lyricless music is my aural alter-ego :-)

Like they say, it takes a really good singer to replace no singer at all.

Me likes Sasha- I have some of his stuff, and some Dave Ralph compilation/ remixes.

CEdicon have you heard Juno Reactor's "Bible of Dreams"?

Progressive-tribal-trance, they did some of the Matrix trilogy soundtrack.

Track 2- "Conga Fury" is awesome, probably my #1 alltime favorite of the genre........ most of the album SLAMS.

I actually fried and seized a subwoofer voicecoil in the car listening to JR ;-)

transient, yes! I've heard of Juno Reactor, very techy/tribal!

I used to be a huge fan of house and trance around 5 years ago, when I was a Senior in High School. Since then, I followed a completely different path of music, along the lines of indie rock, post-modern classical music, and hip hop. Only recently am I coming around full circle back to my electronic roots, and this time I'm actually making music too! I'll post the link to my project at some point.

Sasha is my favorite house/prog. trance DJ... I got a chance to see him live about 4 years ago on his Delta Heavy tour. We don't get many european superstar DJs in Rochester, NY, but that was such a blast, I respect that dude forever!

That Sasha CD in particular is pretty close to the perfect mix for me. The second disc begins with BT's 'Fibionacci Sequence' - a killer tech/breakbeat track! BT is a great dude, too. He grew up going to hardcore shows in D.C. in the 1980's and now he's making the craziest club beats. Dig on the good tunes, and dance when you get the chance.

Last year my friend Dale (fellow NR member "askewd") left his corporate job and took a big leap of faith to pursue his passion, electronic music production. Things magically fell into place and I just got news from him that his trance / house project Liquid Nation has really taken off.

If you want to hear a sample, > go here < and click on Listen. It's great when the positive vibes of a musician comes through.

Also, power metal was discussed on the death metal thread. For that genre I would recommend Sonata Arctica and Edenbridge because of their positive, highly melodic, and progressive style of metal. For the more D&D or LOTR side of power metal, see bands like Rhapsody, Dragonforce, and Blind Guardian.

I have their album - all of their songs go into detail concerning the history of the conspiracy and how it has become what it is now. He he, ok, just to clear this up....those lyrics you were quoting above are a modern take off of lyrics by Chuck D from a Public Enemy song called "Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos" from the early 90's. 

The MC doing that take off is Paris, and that song (with the bush snippets) is called "What Would You Do?"

People have brought up K-os.  He was performing on the Junos (Canadian equivalent of the Grammys) last year and was doing a song of his with remixed lyrics.  One of the lines I picked up on was "human beings acting like Reptilians".  He's got a really good vibe and is doing his best to freshen up hip hop both lyrically and musically. He's definately having a paradigm shifting effect on a lot of Canadians and apparently some Americans.

For the metalheads out there....a really good power/prog/melodic metal band I've come across recently is Cloudscape, the album "Crimson Skies".  A couple of the songs off that album make me feel all tingly inside.

Have u heard their 1st full-length studio album, "A Storm in Heaven"? It's so good, their fans' reaction frightened them. The one w/ the pinball machine on the cover ("No Come Down") has some good songs too, esp. live "Gravity Grave".

Along the same lines r Ride, Lush, and Pale Saints (The Comforts of Madness in particular).

Does anyone every get a strange sensation throught their body when listenig to specific songs? I feel a tingling sensation when I listen to the next effort, peaking at 'everything you touch turns into gold'. Hard to explain maybe someone else experiences this thing too. I had the same experience when I listened to the Bloc Party song when I recognised the intro.
